Eduardo's home is a wonderful place to stay while visiting San Miguel island and all of Ponta Delgada. Had we had another day we could have seen the entire island, which is a beautiful lush green that you don't see just anywhere. The geological formations at Sete Cidades are fun to look at. Be careful letting Siri give you directions. You may end up on a mud soaked road that only allows you to slide down the hill. The expressions on the farmer's faces though may make the death defying trip worthwhile. There are a number of nice restaurants in town that are fairly easy to walk to. English is strained though so you might want to have a translator on your phone. Folks were very nice. There is also a market that is only 5 minutes walk away. The Pizza/Italian place right next door does NOT do take out and doesn't open until 8. You can walk in, but it isn't clear how that works. They are very picky in who gets seated. One problem though is that connecting with the host may be difficult. Hotels.com asks you to give a two hour window in which you will arrive. Because we took the scenic tour we got there 15 minutes late just after they decided we weren't going to show up. I had a brand new vodafone sim that hardly worked. We were able to use google voice to call hotels.com who gave us the local portugal phone number. Once we had that, we were able to contact enough folks to finally get the host to return. Be sure to update your Portugal phone number.
