Very nice resort. Clean and big rooms. Breakfast and dinner buffet with a lot variety of food. During our stay was my wife birthday and the management of the resort surprise us with a cake and a bottle of sparkling wine. The resort is in good central location. Thank you so much Vidamar Resort for making us felling at home.

J’ai séjourné une dizaine de jours dans cet hotel en février/mars 2025 pendant la période du carnaval à Madère.
J’ai fait le check-in vers 1h du matin, j’avais prévenu de mon arrivée tardive, mais à priori il n’y a pas de problème pour les check-in tardifs.
L’hotel se compose de deux tours communicantes, j’avais une chambre double supérieure dans la tour 1 au 9e étage (sur 10), vue splendide sur l’Atlantique!
La chambre est spacieuse (bureau, canapé, balcon avec table et chaises).
Petit frigo dans la chambre et bouilloire.
Pour la TV, plusieurs chaines françaises (M6, Arte, France24) parmi une multitude de chaines dans toutes les langues.
Contrairement à ce que peut être indiqué sur le descriptif de l’hotel, le parking ne coute pas 27€ par jour ou 1€ de l’heure, il est gratuit!
Lors de mon séjour, il n’y avait qu’un seul restaurant ouvert pour le petit-déjeuner et le diner, il est au niveau 2. Je ne sais pas si d’autres restaurants sont disponibles, notamment le restaurant japonais, comme ça semble être indiqué sur le site de l’hotel ou sur d’autres avis (fonction des périodes?)
Que ce soit pour le petit-déjeuner ou le diner, on est en formule buffet, elles sont vraiment très complètes, il y en a pour tous les gouts.
A noter que pour le diner, la boisson n’est pas comprise; j’ai trouvé ça curieux d’autant plus qu’il n’y a pas (ou j’ai mal regardé) d’eau en libre service.
Je n’ai pas testé les autres services de l'hotel (piscines, spa, ...).

The property was clean, convenient location walkable to funchal main areas, view from room was 6* if you want an ocean view you wont beat it. Bed was comfortable and housekeeping were great.
Cons: it is very plain and sterile. There is not personality or atmosphere. It does not feel like 5*Luxury, other than view I would rate it more of a 2.5 star. The food was okay, buffet didnt really have much change so it became very repetitive after a while and we ended up spending money to eat out.
The grill restaurant was awesome.

A fabulous location with seafront rooms , pros are the views, standard of rooms (large and well appointed ) , location's convenience, helpful staff but as many have said out-weighted by the cons. Huge sprawling hotel more like a conference centre with a sterile atmosphere , very little entertainment in the evening, and at £1700 for a week I would have expected free parking and half board / all inclusive which we didnt get. Food was very average, and dining staff willing but disorganised we tried the buffet and Italian restaurant and concluded better value was to be had out in the town. Would not return, poor value.

Resort grande, com lounges bem decorados e amplos, piscinas enormes e muitas cadeiras para tomar sol. O spa foi uma grata surpresa para nós. Gostamos bastante da piscina de água salgada aquecida e das saunas.Os quatro restaurantes disponíveis são muito bons. É importante fazer reserva com antecedência nos restaurantes do lado de fora do resort, o Mamma Mia (maravilhoso) e o de espetadas. Os funcionários são cordiais e educados. As roupas de cama e as toalhas são de boa qualidade. Como pontos a melhorar, eu destacaria o chuveiro do banheiro, que tinha pouca pressão, e os móveis do quarto que estão um tanto quanto utltrapassados. Aliás, a impressão não é das melhores assim que se abre a porta do quarto. Com o passar dos dias, acostumamos com a mobília antiga, mesmo porque a vista para o oceano é lindíssima.

This was our third visit to this hotel, but the first for 13 years. As ever the staff and food offerings were excellent, but there were signs of ageing of the property and it needs some updating in some areas.
But overall an excellent holiday in a good location but you do need to allow time and patience if using the local buses into Funchel.

Un cadre magnifique, mais des prestations décevantes pour un 5 étoiles.
Nous avons séjourné dans cet hôtel et avons été charmés par le lieu en lui-même : la vue est magnifique et le cadre invite au repos. Cependant, plusieurs points nous ont déçus, notamment l'accueil : pas très chaleureux et nous n'avons pas reçu de cadeau de bienvenue alors que cela était mentionné. Le buffet n'était pas à la hauteur : pourtant peu exigeants, rien ne nous a vraiment donné envie.
En revanche, mention spéciale pour le restaurant japonais, qui était excellent. Côté chambre, certains points laissent à désirer : lit et coussins peu conforts, la salle de bain aurait pu être mieux entretenue, le frigo était vide, aucune lotion pour le corps fournie, et le sèche-cheveux était de mauvaise qualité. Pour un établissement 5 étoiles, nous nous attendions à des prestations plus soignées et une meilleure attention aux détails.
Avec quelques ajustements, cet hôtel pourrait vraiment être à la hauteur de son cadre exceptionnel.
