We liked the quietness of the hotel. Comfortable beds, good breakfast and friendly staff.

The beds were hard it was not up to standard. The room was not very clean.

Lovely staff. Great night at the pub, good music, friendly locals.

Although the hotel is dated I have stayed before so knew what to expect. It’s very central to Castle Douglas & that is the main reason I stayed there!

It’s a 200 plus year old listed building so a little old fashioned and quirky. I was initially in room 9 but Patricia the owner moved me to room 1 because when the bar is busy at weekends room 9 is pretty noisy until 1130 or so. Room 1is very peaceful. Excellent food at the Olive Retreat 5 minutes walk away. Everything you need is close at hand. The staff are delightful. If I find myself in the area I would return.

Very dated property. Shower was practically useless, a trickle of water going in various directions. Washbasin cracked, dirty and extremely unhygienic. Noise from outside until very late. Noises on several occasions throughout the night - each time lasting ten minutes or more. Will never return…!!!

Friendly staff

It was a nice little room for our stay. Friendly people who gave us good information, however a few things that could be deal-breakers: - No sockets next to the beds. - The bathroom tap would drip all night and the water from it was always freezing cold, the flush on the toilet felt too weak to do anything. - The doors were very loud&creaky, trying to leave the room quietly is impossible. - Karaoke downstairs went on until gone midnight 2x days. We could hear a drunk guy banging on the table downstairs from our room and anyone talking outside, cars etc. If you don’t mind these things then it was great!

Awful hotel. Tatty, no restaurant, pokey room, tiny shower with poor water pressure. The WiFi kept cutting out.

Rent och städat på rummet men badrummet var lite sunkigt. En glashylla på väggen höll på att trilla ner vid användandet, ena väggfästet satt helt löst, så hyllan tog vi ner. Väldigt smala och korta sängar. God frukost!

Very accommodating and made to feel very welcome - the room had everything you would need for a 1 night stay - decor very dated in need of a bit of paint - had a great shower - en-suite dated but spacious - bedding was clean and crisp - bed was hard so not for us but could suit someone else. Cheap and cheerful - breakfast was great - very friendly all round

Vriendelijke service. Het hotel is een beetje ouderwets maar het was netjes en goede bedden!!

Zentral gelegen - Parkplatz hinter dem Haus. Angenehme Atmosphäre, da die Familie das Haus führt. Gutes Frühstück.

We were greeted with a friendly smile from Heather. Made to feel welcome instantly. Staff were lovely. Bedroom was clean and the bed comfy. Yes there's room for an update of the bathroom but it all works. Breakfast was good and a friendly smile and welcome each morning from Martin. Hotel bar was good with banter from the locals. Thank you
