If you are looking for a hotel that is a cookie cutter to the budget hotels you would find in the states this place is not for you. It is quirky in a floors not quite level, key fob is a trailer hitch pull, small rooms but high ceilings kind of way. The plaster walls hide beautiful marble work that is only now being uncovered. The rooms have everything you will need but are basic. But oh the location! Right on La Rumbas the place is within walking distance to so very much. I loved that it was a 5 minute walk with my heavy suitcase to the Aerobus that takes you to the airport for about $8.00 Three blocks in any direction will land you someplace cool.

The Hotel Monegal is in a great location for seeing the sites of Barcelona. There is a Metro station (Catalunya) right by the hotel, making it easy to get to other areas of the city. It is located on La Rambla within walking distance of the Cathedral and old town. The staff were so friendly and very helpful, they had good knowledge of the area and good recommendations for where to eat. The room was basic but comfortable, there were a few loose and cracked floor tiles in the bathroom but other than that it was fine. The beds were comfortable. The room was very clean and they replaced the towels everyday. The price was affordable and I would highly recommend staying here. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Monegal again.

Perfect location and great staff! Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, felt super safe and comfortable at this property. Room was clean and spacious.
