This was our first holiday after 5 years due to severe illness. We told staff this as it was my sisters 10 year wedding anniversary and my mom's birthday who suffers with MS. They said something special would be organised. Nothing was. I asked at reception which then gave 3 Welsh cakes with happy birthday written on BOTH plates. Really disappointing. We live beetle in the room and gave it in a glass to reception. No glass was replaced. We stayed Executive no robes ( asked 3 times) no wellbeing kits provided. We booked 2 Executive rooms. One was half the size of the other. The TVs dont work properly and are limited. No casting even though its an option we tried for ages with 3 kids under 9 to get it to work. The staff seem reluctant to talk or help, they dont welcome you back and avoid eye contact at all times. We met 2 lovely staff members who really enjoy their job and it shows. This was Joyce and Eilidh - amazing people who are trying their best. The children play area is a good addition. Breakfast is good but could so with better veg/ halal options. We paid a pricey amount for both rooms so expected better than this especially since it was so so important for us as I live with a rare life threatening illness. Overall location is good lots of roadworks but so.does every city. The pool is good and the kids and family loved this which was nice and clean. The rooms and hallway need a good carpet clean and better room cleaning and hardly any water on these hot days

Food was awful in the restaurant the service was super slow and the messed up my order and then dessert came and it was a rubbery overcooked piece of cake that was is no way a brownie. The waiter who dealt with us was really nice. Also the air con in the room was horrendously loud and kept both myself and my son awake most of the night and we had to turn it off which resulted in us being extremely hot. Not good.

It was a great stay and I would definitely stay again next time I am in Cardiff

This is a great location, walkable halfway between town and the Bay. We stayed in the terrace suite on the 5th floor, which has a balcony area with views over Cardiff. Lovely pool and good selection at breakfast. Car parking was £16 for 24 hours. Would definitely stay here again

Good room with aircon. Some of the staff were really helpful. Good breakfast. The cleaner were really great!

Due to the heatwave the rooms were boiling hot. Very difficult to sleep in even with a fan provided. The bathroom was very small

I really like novotel in Cardiff. Clean, spacious and friendly staff. Just disappointed in the aftercare. It turned out I'd paid twice for parking and no response to my email enquiries.

One thing needs sorting - no information in the room You have to turn on TV and scan QR code - not helpful when you don't use the TV so didn't know it was a thing! And then you cannot see the breakfast times at the weekends - screen info difficult to read as back ground busy Room service menu very poor

Staff were super helpful. Helped us navigate to the venue we weee visiting . Rooms are clean and bed comfy. Didn’t really use the hotel facilities as I was only there for 1 night to attend an event. Room was not as nice as the pictures posted on Experian. Whilst perfectly serviceable our room looked much more dated than expected. Room in some areas was in a poor state of repair (bedside light hanging off the wall and inoperable for example). Big win here is location . Being right in the heart of the city centre puts you in walking distance of most venues.

The hotel entrance is nice and modern, they have a small play area for kids which is great, also the swimming pool and suna are good. But the rooms are a bit old fashioned, there’s no plugs next to your bed even, rooms are a bit small, air conditioning doesn’t really work. Also when we first got to the hotel it was around 6 o’clock in the evening and we went to our room , we found the door open and we found the cleaner inside the room telling us to wait outside the room as the bed was not clean she said and she wants to change it. Imagine driving for 3 hours with 2 kids and then we you arrive at 6 not 2 or 3 oclock someone tell you that your room not ready and bed is dirty, how you gonna sleep in a room you know it’s not clean so we went back to reception and explained what happened, they didn’t care too much and they just gave us another room . What happened wasn’t the reception problem and we knew that but at least 4 star hotels should have a professional staff so when you have a problem like this they can make it up to the customers . Really disappointed me.

The front desk staff were amazing, so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our kids were happy to see a play area directly inside the lobby too. The room was nice, and it was useful to have a water dispenser on every level. Breakfast was good, selection could have been better but it was perfectly fine for a great start. The pool and spa facilities were a nice touch with both a proper steam room and sauna. I advise to go earlier as it can get busy with families in the pool. Gym is well kitted with a separate aerobic room too. Short walk to the St. John's Shopping Centre so no need to drive once you're there.

Friendly and helpful staff, lovely breakfast.

The computer screen at the car park access barrier needs looking at. It is impossible to read the instructions on it in certain weathers, certainly in sunshine. Staff seemed aware of the problem

Located outside city centre so less noise and convenient to get to train station and local offices.
