This hotel is conveniently near Sea World and was reasonably priced, however, the AC did not work, the windows only opened part way. It was the worst night of sleep in my life. Nothing could be done about it as it was sat night and the hotel was full. Next morning (sunday) we were moved to a different room with a working AC, but it was infested with flying ants in the bathroom. The breakfast area was super small, there was a crowd waiting to make waffles/ find a table. This is our second time at a Howard Johnson, and our last. You get what you pay for, I guess.

Horrible key cards and door handle jam, kept having to go to front desk! Noisy AC. Motel style parking. No eggs on 2nd morning.

My kids loved the pool. It was very clean and I liked the guest washer and dryers on the property. All around it was very quiet and other guest were respectful of their neighbors.

Run down hotel with unfriendly staff. Great location. Lots of shopping and dining options within walking distance.

Checked in 10 minutes before the listed check-in time at 3pm. Front desk woman gave me my room, she wasn't friendly, but wasn't rude either. Went to the room, and it was either still occupied or wasn't yet cleaned. Towels everywhere and bed unmade. Went back to the lobby to get a different room. Another guest came back to the lobby for the same reason, her room was also not cleaned before check-in. I was given a room that reeked of cigarettes and cable was not working. Went back to the lobby and got a room that smelled of mildew and cleaning chemicals, but was still better than the cigarettes. We stayed two nights, and on the second day, after returning to our room from a day out, our room key was not working. Had to go back to the lobby to have the keys registered back to our room. The booking website claims buffet breakfast, however, it was Continental with added waffle maker. Hardly a buffet. Would not book again.

To start with, when I opened the room it smelled damp, the air conditioning was old and barely cooled the room even when I put it on maximum, the paint was coming off the bathtub and the worst thing was that the shower never worked so I had to use the cooler to be able to shower. I was really disappointed with the hotel.

The worst of the hotels I have been able to go to, starting because the one at the front desk is extremely unfriendly, I arrived I checked in and when I entered the room the air conditioning was off and the room was very hot, in addition to the bed was untidy, I asked for a room change and they gave me a worse one, without saying that the whole hotel is full of homeless people who did not let me sleep all night with their screams and knocking on the door of my room, then in the "breakfast" they only give boiled eggs that they run out too quickly because of the amount of homeless and bread, and some waffles that you have to make yourself, please don't stay here it's horrible and unsafe. The photos have nothing to do with what it really is

San Diego is gorgeous, but I was over charged

Super dirty, mold all over the place and had a horrible musty smell. They had cockroaches in the bathroom

Broken door, rude staff, no soap or shampoo offered.

Perfect little hotel for our stay in San Diego between day trips.
