We chose this hotel because of its fabulous location and the photos on the website, which made it look stylish and inviting. Unfortunately, the reality didn’t match our expectations. The hotel itself is looking quite tired and could really do with some refurbishment. We were also looking forward to the food after seeing the menu and photos online, but it turned out there was a new chef and a completely different menu. Instead of the restaurant experience we were expecting, it was more like a basic pub menu with very limited choice. The bar was another disappointment – the barman couldn’t make a Mojito, which seemed unusual for a hotel bar. Breakfast was also below average and failed to justify the overall cost of our stay. For what we paid for two nights, we expected a much higher standard. To make matters worse, we even saw a rat on the patio. The location is the hotel’s biggest asset, but sadly it doesn’t make up for the disappointing accommodation, food and overall experience.

Fawlty Towers still exists and it is right here at this Hotel. In addition you get to experience a modern day Basil Fawlty run breakfast. This is not a serious. Just sit back and watch the chaos unfold!

We stayed in the old honeymoon suite by chance, as we booked a dog friendly room and on checking before travel there weren’t any available- so they allowed us this room as we’d paid ahead! Beautiful views of the sea and over the terraces of the hotel. The room itself, including the bathroom, as with most of the hotel, was very dated. The carpet was quite marked and 2 simple tub chairs were for ‘lounging’ in. Appreciated the aircon! The evening meal first 2 courses were excellent. Unfortunately we didn’t receive our desserts ordered so gave up and went to bed. There was no Sauvignon Blanc or Rose wines available (a change of bar manager that week apparently). A substitute bottle not listed was found - and we were charged £10 more than the most expensive one showing on the drinks menu ! Not what we’ve experienced anywhere else. After 2 discussions £5 reduction was given on our overall bill on checkout. Nb. Travelling with the dog means you get to have breakfast in the Loune area just aside from the main restaurant. It’s a bonus- lovely views of the sea!

Fantastic place for sundowners on the patio, magnificent view over the harbour. Not so nice to carry drinks outside to table down steps, with waiters stood around doing nothing.

Well positioned with some rooms having amazing views over the bay. Unfortunately slightly dated interior, with limited food menu, however breakfast was good.

Arrival was like stepping into an episode of Fawlty Towers. Receptionist fine but he was pretty much only staff member visible

We did enjoy our stay at Harbour Heights, although parts of the hotel feel a little tired and in need of some updating. Unfortunately, some members of staff could also benefit from further customer service training, as at times we felt more like an inconvenience than valued guests. The terrace and the view are absolutely stunning and were definitely the highlight of our stay. However, it was disappointing that guests were not allowed to have meals on the terrace, and there was no waiter service available for drinks from the bar. This felt like a missed opportunity, especially given how spectacular the setting is.

Amazing views over Poole! We ate dinner at the hotel as we wanted to enjoy the view. Breakfast was busy which is to be expected as I think all room rates include breakfast- they had to pause taking orders for 5/10 mins as the chef had too many orders . It would be a good idea to ask guests to book a time for breakfast in order to avoid a sudden influx at one time. Lots of stuff ran out and staff members seemed stressed. The rooms very very nice with great jet bath. Air con worked well. As it's an old hotel the floor boards above us were a bit noisy and walls were thin. But the king size bed was very comfy. Would definitely return. Dinner was lovely and the waiter was great. It would have been nice to have the option to dine outside but apparently there weren't enough staff. Great location for the beach.

This is an incredible place to stay especially when the sun is shining

We only stayed for one night, but it was a great hotel. Everything was clean and in a good state of repair. The room was huge and had everything we needed, e.g. coffee machine, iron, TV, etc. Breakfast was pretty good, I liked the combination of ordering your main dish but being able to help yourself to cereal, fruit, pastries, drinks, etc. I had eggs royale and it was good. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is all parts of the hotel other than where we had breakfast are quite dated - nothing is damaged or looking worn out at all, it's just the style of everything. I imagine it looked incredible about 20-30 years ago.

Had the best meal I've had in a long time, the service was not great i had to go and get my own drink, and then got delayed and overcharged at the bar. When I returned my starter was already there. But the food and the view were amazing. Although the view was great you noticed that the window seal had a crack about 3 foot long and some of the front edge was not painted. So for a room at the price we were paying this should have been sorted. Breakfast was good but disjointed you had to do your own toast and drinks. I did not understand why you would serve just a half a mushroom? and I could have eaten another sausage, but it was very nice.

Not really 4 star by its standards. If not for the amazing view this hotel could not command the prices that it does. restaurant menu very limited, staff in restaurant do not attend very promptly to tyhe tables. Decor is tired, room OK but bathroom poor.

When we first pulled up the hotel was not much to look at but honestly, what a lovely surprise once inside. The restaurant, the terrace overlooking Poole harbour and the rooms were all very spacious (we had 3 rooms)

Downstairs area very inviting,staff pleasent, Bedroom cleanbut sorry to say carpet had stains on it and looked grubby , breakfast was excellent.but overall good.

Lovely receptionist breakfast was expensive for what was given and the guy taking orders was rude! Room needs upgrading scratches on table musky smell.And what part of my room was nautical themed I will never know!
