Its a castle from the 13th century on extensive property. The rooms are quaintly historical feeling. Four poster beds, antingue-ish furniture. In general, a great medieval feel while still having modern amenities

The rooms were large and tastefully decorated. It's a very quiet area and the staff was friendly and helpful. It's really a unique castle experience we really enjoyed.

Nice hotel, room was clean, didn't like the material over the four poster bed and there were a lot off spiders, but it is an old castle, I didn't use the restaurant but it had good facilities and tea and coffee in room.

We loved walking around the grounds and down by the river. The trees were amazing. The room service was excellent. It was nice to have breakfast and dinner on site. Convenient location to visit Rosslyn and Edinburgh.

Excellent food, great location and super staff. Accommodations- we booked 2 rooms. One was outstanding the other not so great. We were given an accessible room and if you needed an accessible room it would have been suitable but NoT for someone who does not need an accessible room. Not to be disrespectful but I was very uncomfortable in this room. Very disappointed and would hesitate recommending this hotel for that reason. Ceilings low, bathrooms very different and have to bend down to see in the mirror.

Staying in a castle was on my bucket list! Melville was perfect…accommodations, staff, food…all excellent!!!

Excellent stay, very friendly staff and very easy going system

Curtains in the junior suite were ripped and rather tacky looking. There was a wasps nest outside the window cleaners left it open, several visitors got in, not the best start to my stay. The carpet looks filthy, beeds a shampoo. No offer of a tour of the castle. Advise a change to soft closing fire doors, this would prevent hearing every guest coming and going. Asian girl at breakfast tried to add paid for breakfast to my rooms saying she'd speak to management... please do its down on my printed itinerary. Beautiful building and surroundings interesting history. Customer service lacked somewhat and still waiting on a response to a simple question asked.

Sehr besonderes Hotel in einem alten schottischen Castle. Modernisiert in 2003, toller Komfort und Service. Für alle Reisenden, die etwas besonders abseits der Standard-Hotels probieren möchten ist hier ein ein absoluter Volltreffer. Top auch die schnelle Erreichbarkeit von z.B. Edinburgh und Rosslyn chapel. Großartige Zeit, immer wieder gerne.

We really enjoyed our two night stay at Melville Castle.The castle is beautiful and well located for trips into Edinburgh,set in lovely countryside.It is very dog friendly,with a dog friendly area in both the restaurant and breakfast room.We stayed in the two bedroom suite which was perfect for a family stay with lots of space and very comfortable beds as well as being beautifully decorated.An extra bathroom or separate toilet would have made it even better.We would recommend highly!

Unfassbar schöne Location, was für ein Anwesen! Die Zimmer wirken wie ein Antiquariat, allerdings da, wo sinnvoll, modern. Beispielsweise im Bad. Wir haben uns äußerst wohl gefühlt, vielen Dank an die Betreiber.
