First time staying in a hotel renovated from an old prison. Good experience staying here. Breakfast is superb.

Nice hotel for Oxford, and the concierge is very nice to us. And the hotel, that's already a tourist attraction.

It’s an expensive novelty, it’s comfortable and in a good location. Would have been good to have some historical information on the walls and made more of the fact that it is a very old prison.

The property is an old prison and has great character. We were a party of five and all thought the stat was excellent.

This was a fantastic hotel and we wish we could have stayed longer. It was VERY QUIET at night and the food in the restaurant was excellent, as was the service by all hotel staff. Fun place!

Over all my stay at the Malmaison Hotel was good. The room was clean - breakfast was excellent! and the staff are attentive and friendly.

The Mal is superb every time. As cool as the hotel is, the staff is what makes this place so great. Fantastic each and every time. And the food is excellent too.

The staff were so friendly, so helpful--ordering us a taxi, explaining about the Oxford Bus to Heathrow, etc. The concept of turning a prison into a hotel--wow! Our room was fabulous. The whole setting and what has been done with this enormous golden stone building is so imaginative and fun. Great location for walking/shopping in Oxford. Close to everything.

The hotel is very interesting with it's prison history, though that is also slightly a hinderance. We were in the Houses of Correction and it didn't really feel part of the hotel, you had to leave the main hotel travel across the courtyard to another building that actually felt a little bit like a travel lodge heading to our room. The staff were amazing though, from check-in, to room service, to breakfast and checkout - So absolutely nothing to fault there! I'd just recommend requesting a room in the main part of the hotel as that might be better than what we had.

Stayed one night, room was nice - clean and spacious, lovely bathroom and amenities. Had the breakfast the next day and it was one of the nicest hotel breakfasts I've had. Lots of choice included. Only personal gripe is that the website doesn't highlight that some rooms are only accessible via stairs (think they might have been putting in a lift at the time) I would have booked different rooms within the hotel if I'd realised but that wouldn't be an issue for most people.
