We stayed here recently and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, our room was spacious, featured a large bathroom, and offered absolutely lovely sea views. The location of the hotel is highly convenient for exploring, the staff were consistently nice and helpful, and the breakfast was enjoyable each morning. However, the property is held back by maintenance and cleanliness issues. The building itself is showing its age and desperately needs some TLC. Inside our room, we noticed several stains, and the shower head in the bathroom was full of limescale. Furthermore, the main lobby stairs were very dirty throughout our stay. It is a nice place with great potential, but the management really needs to step up their housekeeping and property upkeep. It needs a professional carpet cleaner to come in and do a once over.

This hotel is one of the rare finds, that you will treasure forever. Perfect location, overlooking the beach and pier, this seaside Hotel takes you back to what english seaside hotels would have been in their prime. Our room was big and spacious, with a view of the seafront. Super friendly and attentive staff, made my son’s day when he could borrow the paddle board provided by the hotel. The life music on the piano, turned into a fabulous evening of blues and exchange with pianist and other guests. Overall as a Family we had a fabulous time and will be back for sure. This Hotel made the families favourite list for sure.

Room needed a deep clean - scuffs and marks all over the walls. There was a table but the kettle wouldn’t reach to the plug socket so had to put it on a chair to boil. The plug so key was hanging off the wall. The luggage rack detached from the wall when I picked up my bag to leave. Staff are friendly, and I’ve stayed with them before in better rooms - they need a refresh.

The Chatsworth Hotel, Eastbourne, is marketed as a 5-star hotel, but my experience fell far short of that standard. In my view, even a 3-star rating would be difficult to justify based on the room quality, facilities, and service I received. At over £200 per night, I expected a comfortable room and attentive service. Instead, I was given a very basic room with only a partial sea view. There was no minibar, no slippers, and the shower had visible stains. These are not the standards most guests would associate with a luxury hotel. The service was even more disappointing. Multiple calls to the front desk went unanswered, and despite this, no one called back to check whether I still needed assistance. That level of indifference is unacceptable, particularly for a hotel charging premium rates. I’ve stayed in hotels around the world, ranging from budget accommodation to genuine luxury properties, and this was, without question, the most disappointing hotel experience I have had. The price simply does not reflect the quality of the accommodation or the service provided. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting a true 5-star experience.

Whilst I would not call it a five star hotel. It is an excellent location and place to stay. Staff are very friendly and attentive. The place is clean. The food is great. The sea view from the room was excellent. The cigar lounge is an excellent spot. Breakfast is served hot with a few choices and made to your liking. We highly recommend this hotel

Large room for Europe, but no air conditioning was really a shame in 35+ degree heatwave. Not specifically their fault but if you have no AC, you should at least have a fan available for each room. Advertised as a 5 star hotel but really not of that quality.

Excellent location and easy parking. Rooms well equipped but in need of some TLC Breakfast was delicious. Overall a very nice hotel.

Room was fine but extremely warm. The walls were dirty and there were no fans available and no other cooling available during our stay so not a great choice during the summer

The hotel staff and amenities are great, we found the hotel by accident and now only ever stay there when in Eastbourne.

Lovely clean room and bathroom. Housekeeping good. All staff were nice. And of course a lovely position and close to all my needs. Two very minor things ,the water does not stay in the sink and as others have mentioned the folder of events is 2025 and needs attention.

A wonderful surprise, from the historical lift to the beautiful view from our the balcony. The staff were friendly and helpful, Eastbourne was lovely. We had a very nice visit.

Nice stay , clean and comfortable

Incredible location across from the beach. Room was spacious and had a view of the beach and the pier. These older buildings don’t have AC but a fan was provided as was a small portable fridge. We didn’t try the bar or restaurant so we can’t rate those. We forgot some important items in our room on checkout and the staff were amazing. They contacted us right away when they found the items and offered to have a staff member deliver them to us. Really helpful.

The room was very clean. Some of the staff members was extremely helpful and friendly. One staff member was absolutely unhelpful. Does not acknowledge us. The resturant service is none exttant is none existence

The service provided by the staff was excellent but money needs to be spent to improve the quality of the accommodation. Carpets were stained and the shading on the bathroom walls suggested that a flood had occurred.

**Review** We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel. It is very nice, charming and welcoming, with a fantastic location right on the seafront. Before our arrival, we had a few queries, and George was extremely helpful in clarifying everything for us. Throughout the reservation process and during our stay, the staff were wonderful and always happy to assist with any questions. One of the most important things for us was that the hotel is genuinely dog-friendly, as we travel everywhere with our small dog. It was great that she was welcome in the areas we needed, which made our stay much easier and more enjoyable. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely choose this hotel again next time we visit Eastbourne.

Had a lovely bank holiday weekend at this hotel . we were upgraded to rooms over looking the beach - which was amazing . the hotel is situated opposite the beach, in between the pier and bandstand - so perfect location . Theres no parking but if you pay £2.50 to the hotel you get a permit for 24 hours and we were lucky enough to park across the road . Staff were wonderful - very friendly and helpful they had a man playing piano in the evenings which was lovely and he was very knowledgable on all types of pianists which he made very interesting We were able to listen and watch the tribute acts that were on at the bandstand Wouldnt hesitate to return !
