Stayed for one night and everything was fine. Location is good, near the tram to the beach, gardens and town. The public areas in the Hotel are nice and it has an impressive lobby area. The bar is good but we didn't use the restaurant so cannot comment. We had a twin room which was clean but the mattresses need replacing and need a choice of pillows. I think for the price it was adequate but maybe needs room investment.

Please avoid the hotel. The room and corridors were completely dirty and full of mould and smelt of damp. Dead bugs, cobwebs, black mould and full of dust. And it looks like the electric safety for the alarm was overdue the compliance checks as the sticker started next test is due in 2024. I spoke with the staff twice about the issues but was completely dismissed and they started they would send someone to attend the room to investigate and deep clean. When we returned their ‘Deep clean’ was to replace the towels - which when I decided I was going to take I shower I found the new towels had a brown stain on them. I then returned to the staff at the front desk and they started they were sorry and would send a new person to clean the room for a second time. When I returned yet again no cleaning just new towels. Dead bugs, cobwebs, mould and dust had not been touched. I am extremely disappointed as I thought this was a well known chain. Due to being out for most of the days I had no chance to actually complain more or ask for a refund as was there for a wedding and helping with the event. I do not expect this standard when I paid around £600. I have photo evidence of all the claims I have made. I will be trying to contact the hotel etc to make a formal complaint as I believe I should be refunded as to be honest the room was unsafe.

We had dinner and breakfast both very good. Staff were very helpful and the lobby is amazing. Only drawback the rooms are a little tired but would definitely go back

Fir the money, the room was poor.Dated bathroom with handle hanging off, toilet seat would not stay up without being held, and bath which belongs in the 60's..very disappointed.

Good sized room and hotel in a great location.

Shocking hotel! The room was filthy and in a really bad state of repair. We refused to stay in the first room they gave us which was in the roof space. I don't understand how hotels are allowed to operate like this. If it was a restaurant they would be shut down by the foog hygiene agency. It ruined our weekend. I will be emailing the hotel directly with photos of the room. Would the owners stay in these rooms? I think not. Even the grand staircases are filthy.

Absolutely fantastic I had booked a double room with view but got Church Hill suite which was absolutely gorgeous very well priced definitely would recommend and stay here again

We do love this hotel but this time we had a guest join us in the bar for a drink. He uses a disabled scooter; we realised how poor the hotel is for disabled guests - the lift was broken from outside so we had to fiddle ourselves to fix it. The disabled toilet is upstairs but the lifts said no scooters allowed. This is obviously a real problem for disabled guests. Honestly, lovely hotel, great staff but needs a few tweaks.

Seagulls with chick's on window ledge kept us awake . Also the metal springs in bed stuck through mattress and made sleeping uncomfortable.

The room served a purpose.

A lovely hotel overall. I had a sea view suite which was a surprise as I hadn’t booked one but the hotel had upgraded me to. Everywhere I went was clean and the staff were very approachable and friendly.

Standard room = way below basic Room was terrible, like stepping back iinto 1980. Bed gave us sore back, room was boiling hot but they did provide a fan which helped blow the warm air around the room. Shower cubicle tiny and did not have a shelf to hold my toiletries . Without a doubt this is the worst room I have ever stayed in and will not return.

Good for the price Breakfast was nice. Eat as much as you can . Room.good size. Would go again.

We booked the penthouse and on arrival paid the £197 immediately this was without breakfast. We got up to the room and it was ridiculously hot to the point you thought the heating was on full blast but wasn’t. We found one fan but it wasn’t enough we asked for a second and were told it’s one fan per room. We had no complimentary water which I though was standard, so we had to buy 3 plastic bottles which coat £8.50. There was an empty fridge in the room and the windows were crawling with insects both inside the room and outside and in between as they had two sets of windows. The balcony doors safety latch didn’t work so our little one nearly got out on to the roof. The room itself was filthy and too hot there is no air con at this hotel, the furniture was worn and broken. There was a light with no working bulb and other lights where you could see in to the loft with dust. It’s about as far away from a penthouse that you could imagine. For £200 a night I expected much more but at least to be clean to a decent standard. I didn’t realise it was a Britannia hotel until after I had booked, if I had know I would not have gone near it with their reputation however the photos I looked at on hotels.com looked really good clean quality place but on actual visiting it’s not accurate so the photos are either false or have been doctored. Extremely disappointed and a total waste of money the heat of the room was unbearable and we did not sleep much.
