Swimming pool looked nice, arrived to late to use it, great selection of beers available, restaurant has a big wide menu of really good food at reasonable prices

I’ve never given a review like this before, but I think it’s only fair for future guests. When we checked in, the smell of dampness when opening the bedroom door was so strong, it was like a slap in the face. I then walked into the bathroom and the floor was so slippy and greasy that I went flying. Luckily I managed to grab on the sink, so as not to fall. That was when I noticed that the sink taps were missing the chrome exteriors! Everything was very tired and worn out. There was also a load of old furniture outside the bedroom window. I went to reception but no other room was available, so ask for someone to at least deal with the bathroom floor. However, a member of staff arrived about 10 minutes later with a key to another room. The room certainly didn’t smell of dampness, but it was so tired and worn out we just couldn’t bring ourselves to stay in it. Even the light switches were so worn/dirty you didn’t want to touch them. Having read the reviews before booking, it was hard to believe it was the same hotel. We were going to a wedding locally so had booked an early check in to get ready. We quickly got changed, left with our luggage and drove the hour + home afterwards the wedding, rather than stay.

Hotel receptionist didn’t offer any information about the hotel - it had to be asked and although she was polite it wasn’t a warm welcome The hotel room was great but looking a little dated, plus some of the bedroom furniture needs refreshing. The same for the TVs which were particularly small for the size of room. However excellent carpets, bed, towels and view plus exceptionally reasonable price. The restaurant was excellent with good service, hot food and a warm welcome.

Very comfortable accommodation tho furniture old and tired. Really lovely having a suite with separate sitting room as I don’t always sleep well and didn’t disturb my husband during the night

The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly when required. The room was a really good size. However, the rooms are in need of some serious updating! We had 2 plug sockets in our bedroom which were on the other side of the room. The balcony was filthy, leaves twigs etc all over the floor. The balcony railings were also a mess, covered in spiders and the chairs provided were dirty. The restaurant is lovely, clean and modern however, the actual hotel needs a full renovation and the place has so much potential. The sitting area of our room needed a clean and again, to be made more comfortable and updated. We were here for 2 nights for wedding down the road, overall the hotel has so much potential. We would stay again if the hotel was to be done up and look more like the restaurant as that has clearly had a lot of work done.

Brilliant

Booked through Expedia, didn’t see an option to book bed and breakfast. On check out we were charged £17 each for breakfast which I thought was excessive for what was on offer. Choice of cold meat and cheese consisted of one slice of ham and one of cheese. Pastries very limited and no croissants, when we asked for some we were told they were all gone. Only one choice of egg in the buffet, fried only.

From arriving to checking out it was lovely staff so friendly and helpful room was beautiful pool was excellent definitely recommend

Lovely hotel just need a little spruce up in places some new mattresses . Food was good but a little cold . Staff helpful

Beautiful entrance and bar area however room very dated and old. Painted furniture had lots of scuff and scrape marks no telephone to call reception or order room service, no refrigerator. Pool was closed when we arrived (16.00). Gym very minimal.

Attended a wedding locally. Lovely clean hotel. Staff were very good. Unable to use the pool due to swimming lessons, were told we could only use it after 12.30pm, but we were checking out at 11am.

Room spacious and clean and good access to gardens, staff very friendly and helpful restaurant excellent food and service.

I love this hotel and I'm sad not to be able to give it 5 stars but it's sadly suffering from neglect. I know times are hard for hospitality but it could be so much nicer with a few changes. For instance why have a cupboard obviously meant for a fridge but not have a fridge? Why have fake grass on the balcony which gets full of water and very unpleasant to walk on? Why not have a nice set of furniture on the balcony? we had one chair no table. Our kettle didn't work, the plughole in the bathroom had no guard so a risk of losing your rings down it. There was no maid service we had to make our own bed. The towel rail didn't get hot so we had wet towels. We used the pool this time, no privacy in the ladies changing rooms unless you get changed in a wet shower or in the toilet and the pool area is more functional than luxurious. This all sounds terrible doesn't it? But I still love this hotel. It's not expensive to stay, the rooms are massive, the bathrooms are nice, the restaurant is beautiful and the staff are lovely. Please people in charge just put a bit of effort in to make it perfect.
