Unfortunately, this was not the best stay. We arrived to find there was no electricity in the hotel, and this was communicated very poorly. As a result, the restaurant and bar were closed, which was extremely disappointing. Overall, we were very disappointed with our stay. The spa was satisfactory, but it wasn’t enough to make up for the issues we experienced.

Hotel is a bit run down but clean. Had a few issues with our stay that would prevent using again. Room AC was broken so they put a large fan in the room and left window open. Woken up at 5 from noise outside which is not ideal for a relaxing spa trip. Bathroom sink didn't work so had to use bath for water. Breakfast was chaos. 2 staff on, no tables set up, had to find own cutlery and no-one come to serve us. Used the buffet which was not the plan and left. Used the spa as well. Wife and i both had hour body massages. Amazing from Karen who my wife had and has been raving about. Rest of spa nice and heated pool lovely, although outside needs some maintenance.

Decor was very dated and looks nothing like the pictures, I had an executive double that I paid extra for !! WiFi was useless and could hardly operate my laptop with the weak signal, from the 4 windows all I could see was badly maintained rooftops, shower door was broken and replaced with a mouldy curtain and the sink took forever to empty Glasses in the bar were filthy, knives couldn’t even cut toast and there was a breakfast menu and hardly anything on the menu was availing Terrible stay and won’t be returning

Gym was poor and most equipment wasn't working. The bed wasn't the best either.

We recently stayed at the Frederick Hotel & Spa in Maidenhead and felt like extras in a low-budget horror-comedy. The property is charmingly stuck in a bygone era—peeling wallpaper, threadbare carpets, and dated finishes that scream “renovate me.” Our suite’s bed was a medieval plank and the pillows were wafer-thin relics. Housekeeping was inconsistent: rooms often weren’t cleaned, coffee capsules were never replenished, and one visit merely left two towels and bottled water. In-room communication was non-existent—only a non-working bathroom phone—so any request required a pilgrimage to the front desk. Bathroom repairs looked like a caulk enthusiast’s hobby rather than a proper renovation, and dust collected in corners as if on purpose. The gym was disappointing: treadmills, ellipticals, and vibration machines out of service, plus a poorly maintained weight station. The “Room Bar” fridge was an amusing survivor—empty, dented, and battle-scarred, but it did reliably keep things cold. Staff were pleasant but the operation felt understaffed and under-resourced. If you want quirky character, this hotel has it; if you want comfort, cleanliness, and functioning facilities for the price, look elsewhere. We won’t be returning.

Not the first time we have stayed here, but sadly seems to be in a steady decline. Room was dusty, and cobwebs, the furnishings are worn and just doesn't feel clean. Our biggest issue though was being told the restaurant closed about 8pm at 7.55pm, a Hotel on a Saturday evening not serving food, added to that the bar was closed too. Not what you would expect from what should be a great hotel experience, staff all seemed very indifferent. Would not stay there again

My first impressions were very positive as the hotel is in a great location in Maidenhead and only a short walk to a variety of restaurants and eateries both chain and independent. The parking area is quite extensive allowing more than enough room for hotel and restaurant guests. There is a stylish reception area with friendly staff who checked me in early after confirming my room was ready. The room was artisticly decorated especially with the bathroom area. There is a well functioning air con unit as well as a nice fan. My main disappointment was that one of my main reasons in booking my accommodation was to use gym facilities. In enquiring about this, I was informed that the spa area was being renovated and not able to be used by guests until April. The lady on reception said that I should have been informed but the only message I received from the hotel did not allude to this. This was the only let down on a stay which would have been give 5 stars otherwise. My 3 main scoring criteria for an overnight stay is the shower, the sleep and the next morning's breakfast. All 3 were very good and combined for a stay at a place I would love to stay at again given the chance.

The room was clean, warm and quiet. Reception staff were friendly and helpfull. We have stayed at Fredricks for many times and will book again in the future

The hotel is lovely, but unfortunately We received a message saying the Spa & pool were closed for maintenance reasons after we had booked. (Non refundable) Found reception staff very pleasant to deal with but also very impersonal. And very scarce! Nobody to be found anywhere at anytime! Nobody offered an apology or even an acknowledgement even though we had booked our stay purely based on the spa facilities. It would have been a nice gesture if they had offered to compensate- even a very small gesture would have been appreciated. There is a pod coffee machine in the room with instructions but no coffee pods :) We were given 2 rolls of toilet paper and they weren't replaced at all during our stay so pack your Kleenex! We weren't given clean water glasses either- room was cleaned but there was no extra effort put in. Fredricks has always been lovely but it is looking dated and could do with some upgrades. Overall a good stay but I couldn't give 5 stars unfortunately

Received a phone call two days before I checked in saying the spa was out of use indefinitely. We got a room upgrade, but the decor throughout the hotel is very dated. Breakfast was poo, the cooked English breakfast was made up of cheap ingredients, not worth the money even at half the price.

Need refurbishment. The SPA wasn't functional.

Spa was closed on arrival, which was a disappointing start to the stay. The restaurant atmosphere was uncomfortable and almost silent, making it an unpleasant dining experience. Despite chicken being listed on the menu, staff were unable to prepare a simple chicken salad, which felt unreasonable. The rooms were very dated and clearly have not been upgraded in many years. Overall, the hotel felt tired, poorly managed, and not worth the money. I would not return or recommend staying

Overall stay was good, very polite service, we feel the hotel needs updating , certain areas also need more attention with cleaning , bar was not attended fully and the draft beer was off , considering the price for beverages, but overall very good .

Staff were fantastic especially Al in the spa and the waitress serving breakfast both mornings. Room was very clean. Loved the heated outdoor pool. Breakfast was delicious especially the cooked breakfast.

The room was boiling and the heater was stuck on 26 degrees so we had to switch it off. I cut myself on a spring on one of the chairs. The lady on reception was very apologetic but no offer of any recompense. The hotel is dated but our room was spacious with plenty of storage space had we been staying for a longer period of time. Bathroom was very clean and again large. Beds weren’t super comfy but for one night they were sufficient.

rooms could use a bit of an update, especially with amenities, but overall very good service and very friendly staff. the swimming pool and spa facilities where great.
