Very nice staff, delicious dinner

Brilliant stay here. Thanks to Kaitlin for preparing our lovely room and serving us breakfast in such a friendly way. Couldn't do enough for you. Food is first class. Worthy of any 5 star hotel. Now our regular stopover on way south and highly recommend.

A good public house. The breakfast is outstanding.

Very welcoming staff. Room was very clean. Nice touch of access to fresh milk to use in our room. Evening meal was a bit disappointing. Breakfast was good, nice selection of items.

Lovely Inn in a quiet village. Our stay was even quieter due to the Horse Fair in Appleby meaning the Inn was only open to residents. The inn clearly loves having dogs to stay so if you don’t like that, think carefully. Food was well prepared and the homemade steak pie was definitely on the large side! Bedroom was comfortable with all modern facilities.

All good, nice clean room, good selection of beers and wine, decent area outside if weather permits, and a very enjoyable meal in the evening. The village itself is very quiet, but would certainly recommend if looking for an overnight stay to break up a journey north or south.

Clean rooms and property. Just couldn’t find an iron

Ideal for a one night stopover on the way to Scotland. Food was excellant, room was great, the only niggle was water in the bathroom was lukewarm.

A gorgeous restaurant and lovely hotel rooms, and the staff were all wonderful, very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was also excellent, as was dinner

The room was spotless, warm and cosy. Friendly staff.

Constant clicking from the radiators throughout the night even though they were on 0. I changed it to 3 and still clicking. Woke me up at 3am. Had to put background noise on to drown it out. Milk available but out of date. Staff were incredibly lovely, very welcoming!

Excellent atmosphere- very friendly towards dog- was very wet when we got there but there was a dog towel in hallway and dog bed in the room . Room very clean and unfussy. Hotel itself has a lovely comfortable cosy feel about it. Staff very attentive and food v good too! Would recommend!

Superb for an overnight stay on our way from Scotland to the south coast. Liked the large and recently refurbished room. The public areas were spacious and decorated well also. Friendly and helpful hotel staff.

We had a pleasant overnight stay on our way home from Scotland. The room was fine,very clean and well presented. There was no TV but we didn't need it. The bathroom had an easy access walk-in shower which was good for anyone with disabilities. However, we believe that all the rooms were accessed by a short but steep flight of stairs which were not easy for a disabled customer. Dinner was very good from a reasonably good menu.

Lovely smallish independent hotel in a beautiful village setting. Spacious, comfortable room with good bathroom. Nice, local toiletries. Fantastic cooked breakfast included. Atmospheric bar restaurant.
