Good value and friendly staff. The bedrooms were nice but the bathrooms were perhaps a little tired and the shower tripped the electrics.

Great place to stay. However, the Mattresses on the Beds in the twin room (Room 2) need renewing, very poor. Great place to eat in the evening. If you have mobility problems, the stairs are steep, there is a Rail on the left side, but the last few steps don't have have a rail. Also a bath with a shower is not good for a Mobility person. The Manager was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, arranging taxi's etc. Breakfast was served in the Café , opposite and a reduction of 50% was given, breafast in the Hotel was not available until 10:00. There was a 50% reduction in the Pub (Part of the Hotel) was available on Evening meals, from a great menu.

The room was clean and tidy. The food in the pub was very good. I would not stay again due to room No5 being VERY noisy due to 3 fans under and next to room 5 (kitchen, cellar and heating) making constant droning noises. I had to ask staff to turn the fans off during the night as it was so loud you could not sleep, even the floor in the room was vibrating. After reading some of the reviews I have noticed that other people had complained about room No 5 being noisy from the fans. It spoilt our whole stay as during the day you could hear the fans making the room uncomfortable to stay in. I expected noise from the customers outside as the pub is in a town centre location. I think the landlord should explain paying guests that the room No 5 is very noisy due to the fans before they book. Though the noise is more than obvious, the landlord acted surprised when informed. If you expect a good nights sleep in Totnes don't stay at the King William IV. I hope this review is helpful.

Room was big and warm and the bed was great. Location was excellent and the room was very quiet. Had some issues with the lock on the door being tricky to work and the corridor smelt of smoke at times. Overall though I enjoyed my stay.

Clean room in friendly pub. Good food in the pub. Limited choice of teabags in the room, so maybe take your own teas.

I live in London. My parents met in Totnes in WW2 and I come once a year for nostalgia. The KW4 provided everything needed for the stay. Thank you.

Good location and room clean and comfortable. Pillows a bit flat though so that could be improved on. We didn’t have a great night sleep as there was some sort of fan on the other side of the wall (room 5) that came on every 20 minutes or so and was quite noisy. Also noise from the pub and street outside went on quite late but we kind of expected that due to location.

Clean room, helpful and pleasant staff, very close to various amenities. My only regret about staying here is that I didn’t partake of the food and beverages available.

Just had 2 nights in room 1 .. Never again . Who in there right mind puts 4 floodlights directly outside the bedroom windows and leave them on until midnight . The curtains are a waste of time , it needs blackout blinds at least . The room is also roasting hot due to the ( lovely ) large windows.. however , due to the horrendous noise from the high street the windows were needed to be kept shut . Absolutely awful room to stay in . Definitely not worth tbe money . I think we probably managed 4-5 hours sleep over the 2 nights . The pub its self is ok , good food and beers . But the weekend was ruined by the room

Loved the room, it was a comfy bed and had all the amenities we needed. The staff were helpful, chatty and very welcoming. We had breakfast most days and lunch on the day we didn’t in the pub downstairs and Alex even remembered what sauce we liked! The pub had a fab atmosphere, the food was lush and the cocktails were gorgeous. Would definitely stay again 💕❤️😍

The only room on the night available in Totnes. Friendly reception and room was warm and the bed comfortable but single glazed windows, noisy neighbours and a serious mould problem such that my asthmatic son (not the one travelling with me) would have had to leave the room. The pub seems to have an excellent choice of food and beer but was too crowded with no seats so we went elsewhere. Sort out the deficient cleaning and the room would be acceptable - see photos of mould on window frame and around bath.

Bed, worst I have slept in, please throw away the mattress. Bathroom, horrible, black mould, dusty, shower curtain eeeuuw! Rip it out and start again. Bad smell, and toilet completely loose. Very noisy with windows open, necessary because heating would not turn off. Smoking outside the bar so all smoke came in the windows. No sleep due to noise. Please do everyone a favour and do t sell Room 3 until refurbished!!
