I love older buildings and am so glad that this property is being used. Breakfast was good, however allow plenty of time, as it is leisure service.

If you are expecting a five-star, do not. The rooms are outdated, windows fogged up and carpets in hallways frayed. I believe the 5-star rating comes from it being a spa but if you don’t use the facilities, there is nothing 5-star about this hotel.

We arrived at The Monastery at 5:15. Check-in starts at 3. We were asked for photo ID, to be photocopied and shredded “the next day.” We reminded them we were there for 2 nights. We’ve never had such a request. Our room wasn’t ready. They offered late checkout “the next day.” We reminded them we were there for 2 nights. We had a flight on departure day so late checkout wasn’t useful. (Also, was this why OUR room wasn’t ready?) They suggested we buy coffee in the hotel bistro while waiting; in other words, spend more money while they fixed their mistake. We took a walk. 20 minutes later, the room still wasn’t ready. The cleaning staff were outside on break. When we got in, the room was adequately clean. A few crumbs on the floor; nothing I’d complain about if I weren’t already complaining. The end? No. The hotel said to hang the “please clean” sign on the door if we wanted cleaning during our stay. We didn't have a sign but neither did we want the cleaners back. But when we returned after dinner, the room was being cleaned. We were (as when we arrived) tired and needing the bathroom. The front desk had to be reminded of the free bottle of wine that came with the room. The restaurant was understaffed, and I pity the lone server. I assume our photocopied ID was shredded. We will not be staying at The Monastery again.

Always love staying here. The monastery is a great place to stay and the breakfast is delicious.

I have stayed at conventional hotels in the past, but they were full for the dates of this conference, so found the hotel through Expedia. My next trip - I'll be back there. The rooms are spacious. It is quiet. The breakfast is lovely, (but doesn't start until 8 a.m.) The staff go out of their way to be helpful. The bed was comfortable. It is close to mst things down town. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Good things to report include the daily breakfast. It was very good and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We also booked spa treatments which were lovely. Improvements could be made with housekeeping as we had to ask for our room to be made up both days. The second day even though we asked and were told housekeeping would come up, nobody did. Hotel is also about a 15-20 min walk to George and Water Streets which made it very convenient.

Deplorable room cleaning. Bedskirt had some sort of stains all over it as well as a large red spot on the comforter. You DO NOT stay in the Monastery - our room was in a sort of portable type building and super hot interior. So disappointing and icky.

The hotel was overall decent, and the location suited my needs well, with only about a 10-minute walk to the city center. The rooms are relatively spacious; however, they feel quite dated and would benefit from some refurbishment. In addition, the AC/heating unit was very noisy, which negatively impacted overall comfort—particularly during the night. Breakfast was of good quality, but for business travelers, an earlier start time would be preferable. That said, I recognize that business travel may not be the hotel’s primary target segment.

Nice and clean

Lovely huge room! However, after requesting it, maid service was not obtained. The bistro is upstairs, and it was cold getting there. Bistro is a lovely spot with good food. Parking can be challenging!

We had a great night. We were booked in one of the rooms set outside the main building. The bed was comfortable, the water pressure in both the shower and jetted tub was excellent. The bathroom was quite small. We did have issues with the TV remote not being able to turn the TV on or off and the volume button didn't work. Overall very minor inconveniences. The included breakfast in the Bistro was great, the serving staff was friendly and the food was hot and tasty. We will definitely be back to stay again.

We stayed for a week at this property, the location is great, the room was really good, the free parking much appreciated and the onsite bistro is excellent, We had the included breakfast which was plenty to get you going in the morning, Our only complaints would be that they should get blackout blinds/curtains, the early morning light easily got past the curtains they have, I’m guessing the current housekeeping staff shortage can be fixed, we had our room cleaned every other day, this was fine except the room amenities didn’t always get replaced, (coffee, tea,shampoo etc) a query at the front desk and they quickly provided whatever we needed, Overall we had a great week!

Always had to find someone to get tissue/toilet paper and fresh towels on 7 night stay.

Great place awesome breakfast

A lovely hotel - room was perfect. We’d definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family! The wine was a nice treat! Restaurant and breakfast was delicious. All staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of nearby parking. Location was great, once we found it. The hotel is tucked in behind another house - we got a little turned around upon arrival as we were tired after a long flight and the sign as you pull in doesn’t direct you as clearly as it could. You need to continue straight through to the end and turn left. We should have looked at the picture to clarify, but didn’t think to do that at the time. Thankfully a parent directing school traffic guided us appropriately as we were heading to the wrong house - she mentioned it happens a lot.

Good location, just a bit off the (noisy) downtown. Parking right beside bldg. Simple breakfast included.
