We were disappointed with the outdoor and indoor pool Outside was quite small and need of good clean In addition both outdoor and indoor pools had no seating/sun loungers if you wanted to relax

Food, breakfast and evening meal was excellent so was the staff. Spa was also excellent, and the staff again.

Staff a bit tricky re booking tables to eat. Reception didn’t say a thing but I felt like we got into trouble trying to get dinner. Just a heads up to anyone - book a table. Food and venue was beautiful all the same.

Lovely hotel and stunning location. Lovely views over loch from outdoor pool. Fish and chips were delicious as was the breakfast.

Arrived to find sofa bed did not have bed linen. Went to reception to be told the hotel no longer had sofa beds but jayzee single beds. Assured receptionist I had booked a room with large bed and sofa bed in a room for my daughter and I and there was definitely a sofa bed there that just required bed linen. Opened out the sofa bed to discover crumbs, chocolate buttons and a previous guest’s Young Scot card. Room service guy turned up with a jayzee single bed but informed him that there was a sofa bed so could he please just bring us bed linen and vacuum the bed. Nice guy did this. It was like a scene from Fawlty Towers! Carpets in the Lodge rooms need renewed or a professional steam clean to get rid of stains. The changing rooms in the spa area were dirty. Breakfast was lovely and staff at breakfast were friendly. Need to have a TV in the communal lounge area of Lodge accommodation. Messages coming from staff was that the new hotel management was woeful with staff placed on zero hours contracts and many of them leaving in their droves. Would I book again! NO!

Spa closes early so be aware as this isn’t communicated, 5.30pm was the last entry whilst we were there.

Lovely clean dog friendly room. Would benefit from some details on the resort ie dog walks or local attractions. The hotel is remote, we had planned to get there by the ferry but this was not running and had to drive, not the best roads as not a single track fan. We would stay again

The location is the winner - people definitely visit to stay in a truly incredible part of the country. This is our second trip in less than a year, and unfortunately Portavadie is looking very tired indeed. I was quite shocked at the lack of cleanliness in common areas (corridor outside our room was gritty with random bits of dirt, and the leisure centre’s changing rooms were grimy and thick with cobwebs!) Customer service felt really indifferent and quite bare-minimum. I truly think our expectations are low in this regard, we’re very self sufficient and don’t expect any special treatment! However, there was just something quite ‘off’ and I think staff in the restaurant and leisure centre could massively benefit from proper customer service training. This is an incredible destination and coming here should feel really special. Unfortunately I think there’s some fundamental details that need some care and attention from management.

Cottages are lovely,restaraunt was very nice,we had breakfast and that was very good(although i never got my egg!). Not too sure about the swimming pool area,mrs thought it wasnt clean,the water very cold. We went off peak,so wasnt too busy,weather terrible as well(not the hotels fault for that). Went on ferry to Tarbert,was very disappointed,theres nothing to see and do,lots of places closed.

Lodge room spotless, helpful staff and fabulous location. Excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner.

A perfect getaway for an overnight pamper. Would prefer to stay two nights to get the full experience.

Had a great stay this weekend. The facilities are great. The restaurant and bar staff are excellent and very helpful and efficient. The food was good. The night porter also assisted with pick up and drop off from the lodges to the restaurant on Friday as it was very wet so that was appreciated. Only a couple of things that could be improved, the bed in the standard room is a small double so I felt like I was going to fall out. As a female who does a lot of solo travelling (though not on this occasion), the lack of lighting from the lodges to the restaurant/bar/spa is not great. Had I not been with my friend, I wouldn’t have gone up after dark. Overall though, a lovely relaxing stay.

Lovely room but a tad cold without an extra heater. Lovely food.

Fantastic overnight stay. Staff very accommodating.

The whole stay was amazing. Staff were really friendly, the spa was incredibly relaxing, and the cabin accommodation was perfect and in a really scenic spot. The only fault was the outdoor pools were pretty cold, but the weather was chilly generally during our stay.

Lovely stay here. I was a bit disappointed that the main pool was closed as that would have made it a 5 star experience all round. Staff were brilliant.
