Booked last minute as a stopover. The room was stunning, the building is gorgeous and steeped in history. Very quiet and spacious. Fantastic breakfast. Superb value, Would love to come again

Brilliant weekend stay at this old hall Staff were so friendly and made us so welcome . Given an upgrade to a huge room with Four poster bed which we were thrilled with Food was lovely ...maybe too big a portion for us !!!!!! When we come back to Whitehaven next year this will be where we stay ..xxxx joy and david

Excellent hotel, probably best I have stayed in, in the area. Clean rooms, staff friendly and professional. Parking facilities ok, slow EV Charger's on-site however Fast EV chargers available within ~3 miles of the hotel so no issue there. Wi-Fi facilities on site good high speed connection. Food excellent (Evening Meal / Breakfast). Local wildlife observer (Rabbits) in gardens. Will be staying here again when next in the area.

We enjoyed our Stay at Moresby hall. Nice old building in a nice spot. Nice room although the shower seemed to be leaking as the floor was constantly wet. Although this is a dog friendly hotel which I think should be made more clear when looking for hotels. I do think allowing dogs in a dining area is acceptable. The person dealing with breakfast was allowing their own dog in and out of the dining room into the kitchen. And in between stroking other dogs in the dining room then returning to the kitchen, bringing out food without any time to have washed her hands. Surely this is against food hygiene standards. It seems allowing dogs into places has become more important than health and safety. Or even caring about people who don't wish to be surrounded by dogs or even may have allergies. There was even two rooms that breakfast could be taken in, Surely one of these could be kept dog free.

Second time staying here as always room was clean and spacious and breakfast was delicious.

The Team Members were all cheerful, friendly and helpful. I enjoyed staying at a place which has real character.

We have never visited The Lakes and wanted an overnight stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Would highly recommend staying here. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The food for the evening meal in the restaurant was lovely followed by breakfast the next day, with plenty of options. Also helped with have parking facilities on site and free for visitors to the hotel. Was not disappointed with our stay, and would definitely visit again in the future

Power went out for 6 hours, so we had to move rooms and then we were asked to move back to original room! One of the staff was very rude to my wife.

Lovely hotel with lots of character

Clean room - good size although rather dated. Bathroom needs updating and shower door did not close properly. Really good breakfast and evening meal. Service staff at breakfast were excellent, helpful (plenty of tips as to where to visit), and exceptionally friendly. Evening wait-on staff - one young lady was extremely attentive although the other one was less so. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, the external of the building needs a lot of investment. However all in all the stay which we booked through Hotel.com was reasonably priced and overall we enjoyed our peaceful stay.

Lovely place to stay for the western lakes. Rooms very clean. Great history good parking and fab breakfast. Staff all very welcoming too.

From the initial homely welcome upon arrival to our leaving everything was truly 5 star in the very relaxed, informal but professional service we received. Brilliant! it takes a lot of care and attention to the way informality is served but this hotel has got it just right. A perfect break, Sunday dinner is spectacular, peaceful nights sleep in our four poster and a luxury shower exceeded our expectations and 'we'll be back' best wishes to all and thank you for a very relaxing stay.

The owners were amazing; very attentive. Harley the dog is gorgeous. The evening meal was excellent quality and very good value considering the amount of food. Our room (Copeland) was massive and a good price. The jacuzzi bath was great, the bed was huge and comfortable. Could have benefited from a tiny bit of TLC, e.g. bathroom door wouldn't stay fully closed and the tops of the tall windows needed a slight clean. Overall it was still 5 stars and we would stay there again.

Returning to this historic hotel for a third visit was just as enjoyable as ever. Although my room was smaller this time, it was still beautifully maintained and very comfortable. I was especially grateful to be allowed an early check-in at no extra cost, which made my trip even more relaxing. The food remains outstanding, and the staff continue to provide a genuinely warm, friendly, and helpful service throughout. I was in Whitehaven for an event over the early May bank holiday weekend, but truthfully, the chance to stay here again was a big part of the reason for my visit. A consistently excellent experience - I wouldn’t hesitate to return again.
