I recently stayed at Hotel Palace Bologna Center. While I understand that it’s an older hotel, I appreciated that it was generally clean and I didn’t notice any cobwebs. Unfortunately, the carpet in my room was quite dirty and looked like it needed a thorough cleaning.
The biggest disappointment was the customer service. The staff were not very helpful during my stay. At one point, I simply wanted to fill my water bottle with cold water from the dining area. Although the door was closed, it wasn’t locked, but the receptionist refused to let me in. Instead, I had to pay €1.60 for a bottle of water that wasn’t even cold.
I also visited Italy during the summer, and although I understand that air conditioning isn’t always as common or as powerful in Europe as it is elsewhere, I specifically booked an air-conditioned room. Unfortunately, the room felt like the heat was on, making it very uncomfortable. When I reported the issue, I was told there was nothing they could do.
Overall, the hotel’s central location is convenient, but the poor customer service, dirty carpeting, and uncomfortable room temperature made the stay disappointing.
