I think the staff may hate their jobs - other explaination is that they hate the guests? Hearing them complain to each other about how busy it is for them in the morning certainly made me think twice about attending the "breakfast" offering. A little kindness goes a long way - maybe give some suggestions for those that have to wait a bit for check in - or where people can get food/drinks near the hotel? I defo felt "tolerated" at best. The hotel itself is OK. The location was exactly what I needed as I had to attend at event at the university. The room felt like a jail cell. Stains on the walls, peeling furniture, and it wasn't the cleanest. The elevator smelled like pot. Noise travels throught the thin walls, with doors slamming regularly and clear conversations heard from the adjoining rooms. The cost was reasonable - hence the 3 stars. But I would probably not stay here again. I would not recommend this for a longer stay, especially during term time when the surrounds would likely be louder.

I must admit I was slightly wary of staying here after reading all the complaints about noise, but as it turned out, I had nothing to worry about! The hotel and surroundings were quiet - even during an England match! I suspect it depends on whether the students in neighbouring accommodation blocks are around, so perhaps factor that into your decision. But for relatively cheap accommodation, with breakfast included, you can't go far wrong with the Jonas!

Have stayed several times when visiting daughter at the uni and this is great value and perfect location. However no air con /fans so a very uncomfortable night in the heatwave!

I wouldn’t call this a hotel, it’s student accommodation. There is not air con , window open very slightly.

The property was a sort of student residence on the University of Sheffield Campus , in a very beautiful setting . I stayed during an unprecedented heat wave , there were no air conditioning or fans available. There were limited soft drinks , coffee and croissants available . Halfway through my stay I became aware that one of the neighbouring buildings was infact a hotel with full catering service of a very high standard where accepted non residents for meals . The staff in Jonas were very friendly and could not have been more friendly .

When we checked in late on Wednesday evening, the gentleman who assisted us was excellent. He was very helpful, explained everything clearly, and made us feel welcome. He was truly brilliant. However, our experience at breakfast the following morning around 9:30am was very disappointing. There was very little breakfast available, only a few croissants left, and there was no coffee or tea. When we asked a member of staff about plates, we were told there were none available and that we should use a tissue instead. We also received no welcome at all when we arrived for breakfast. One member of staff was sitting there and did not acknowledge us. When we asked about the coffee, we were simply told to tilt the container because it had run out, and what was left was cold. Overall, while the check-in experience was excellent, the breakfast service was poor and left us feeling disappointed. What was particularly disappointing was that while we were being told there were no plates available and that we should use tissues instead, a member of staff had time to prepare her own breakfast and was using a plate herself. She was eating pasta from a plate, yet customers were told that no plates were available. We found this very upsetting and unprofessional. It gave the impression that customers were not being treated with the same level of care and respect as staff. This was very disappointing and left a poor impression of the breakfast service

Great no frills cheap option in Sheffield.

Excellent value for money in a quiet part of Sheffield. Spotlessly clean room, lovely staff. You only get one pastry per person for breakfast, so top up your protein in a second breakfast elsewhere.

Perfect for a cheap one night getaway - had a good night's sleep.

For the price the accommodation was perfectly acceptable. Since I was simply looking for a bed for the night with no frills, The Jonas Hotel hit the spot

Clean, affordable with a decent bed and a good shower. Great value but can be a little noisy as next to a big student block.

Wonderful room in a good location to the Botanical Gardens. Cosy, all amenities including toiletries and lovely fresh pastries with beverages in the morning. Highly recommend. You might get noisy students outside the building in the night though!

Very good basic room to lay your head for a night for the price. Spotlessly clean. Pastry and coffee included the next morning, parking was tricky and we had to park on the road outside. My only concern that there was a lot of noise during the night. Staff were very nice. Would say again.

Clean and well presented.

It is very clean and tidy, really helpful and friendly staff. No hot drink facilities in the rooms but for the price its a great place to stay if you need somewhere basic just to sleep. I'll definitely recommend it and will be back again next time I'm in the area

Student style accommodation surrounded by other student accommodations. Simple croissant and coffee breakfast provided. Cycle route to Peak District on the road outside. Hotel open to all.

The amenities within the hotel were good but the parking later sparse.
