The cottage surpassed our expectations. It was warm, cosy & comfortable. We had a lovely two days stay and would definitely return if in the area again.

Outstanding place! Lovely and well done out with all you need, great communication from the host. Easy to find, parking right outside the door. Well equipped kitchen and comfy bed. Definitely use again. Didn’t use the pub 150 yards away sadly.

Handy location to Durham and countryside. Clean cozy and friendly clear communications. Nice touch to have some supplies available on arrival. Felt unclear where to park as other locals parked up but I’m sure it would have been clear should I have asked.

This was a very nice comfortable place. We had a little trouble finding it. Was easy to check in and out of. The only suggestion I would make was to put the exterior patio lights on a timer so that they turn off at night— if it’s hot and you have the window open then you have all the light from the patio. But it was very clean and comfortable.

John was very helpful. Location of the property is great.

I found the property very well laid out , comfortable bed , good water pressure to the ground floor shower. Fresh milk in the fridge was appreciated

We were visiting Ushaw House and this cottage is perfect location for there, Durham and surround area. Great shower, comfy bed. Easy parking outside your door. Lovely village and great pub. The Bay Horse. Thanks to John the owner for the recommendation

The Hen House cottage was a great place to stay for our trip in the Durham area. The village of Brandon is a beautiful location for going for walks in the countryside and with a great pub/ restaurant called the Bay Horse Inn on 50m away it’s a perfect place to stay. The village is very close to the historic house, chapels and gardens of Ushaw and Brancepeth Castle, which are both excellent places to visit!! Would happily stay here again when visiting the area as it’s a perfect little hideaway!!

A lovely property finished to a very high standard. Compact but sufficient for a couple.

What a gem! We loved our stay in The Hen House, it was beautifully designed and very well equipped. The location was ideal for us, only short drive into Durham, and a very short walking distance to The Pub and Kitchen where we ate one night. We were able to park directly in front, and we enjoyed sitting on the bench outside the house to enjoy the sunshine. Brilliant!

A very lovely place to stay while in Durham. Plenty of amenities. Good communication. Great location the pub. Just a few houses up. Had quite amazing food as well. If you're in town for a while, make sure you check out this great opportunity.

Overnight stay and much cheaper than in Durham itself. Large unit with a washer/dryer which was extremely useful on a long trip. Good view from bedroom window, nice pub across the road. Friendly host. Would also have been good for a longer stay. Only suggestion would be a clearly visible name plate as it was hard to tell which house was which.

Wonderful property and stay, Warm comfortable with a lovely quiet location. Great communication from the owner who was there to meet us and say goodbye. Will be booking again.
