Very clean for a motel, staff very friendly too

Surprisingly good little motel halfway between Calgary and Vancouver. Only about 10 km east of Salmon Arm. Recent renovations we saw include new flooring, cupboards, bathroom and of course paint. Beds were comfortable, and AC was working. A coffee machine and coffee pods were great before leaving as there is no onsite food service. The microwave was good for reheating some light snacks we had stored in the fridge. But the ovens were removed in the recent renovations and if you do actual cooking you will lose your room deposit. The motel is across the highway from the town of Canoe where you can get some quick foods and snacks. Also next to the snack store is the local bar where we picked up a meal, so there is no need to go back to Salmon Arm. Great food but can get noisy-- it's a pub. The wi-fi is so good you can sit in the park area in front of the hotel and still access your room wi-fi. There are picnic tables and lounge chairs and they were great for relaxing outdoors late at night. We did not watch much TV but it works although for some reason it did not seem like HD quality. I would like to see some handrails in the tub/shower area. It is difficult for older people to step over the high tub side to take a shower without something to hang on to. Best not to grab the toilet paper roll for support. Also an instruction sheet for the AC would be good. In our room I needed to stand on a bed to adjust and that is a big task for wobbly seniors. No stairs to climb- none!

So glad to have found this place! I stayed here for a one night stop on a longer road trip and it was perfect. It looks a little dated and perhaps a tad rundown from the outside, but the inside is recently updated, clean, and well kept. The staff were really lovely and helpful. Really enjoyed my time here and would definitely recommend it!

Nice place to stay, quiet,clean and awesome staff.

It’s a very old property with an awful sticky smell of an old wooden building. No idea, how I made it through the night. You get what you pay for.

Wasn't sure what to expect when I pulled in but this place is totally spotless inside and my stay was definitely comfortable, clean and safe. I would 100% return.

A very nice, clean, large unit with a separate bedroom, and a large area with table and chairs. Bit noisy due to the highway but didn't bother me when I closed the bedroom door. It is not right donton but only a short drive away. I would be happy to stay here again

I have never in my life seen a cleaner hotel room. The rooms are small and sparsley furnished, but neat and clean, and the staff is really sweet.

I decided to book at the Happy Salmon because of all the previous reviews indicating the rooms being very clean and they were absolutely right. The rooms are very basic but very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The room had a coffee maker, a fridge and a microwave. The bathroom was also very clean. The only negative is that my room had a strange smell in it. Not a gross or musty smell by any means but a different type of odour when I first walked in. After being in the room for a few minutes, I didn't smell it after that. When I first drove up, I thought the outside looked a bit dated so I was concerned at first but don't judge a book by it's cover because the rooms are very cute, tidy, clean, small and simple which is all I needed it for. I met Joanna at reception and she is very nice as well. She takes great pride in making the place look nice including planting flowers outside. It's about a 5 minute drive into Salmon Arm where you'll find lots of restaurants and amenities. There is definitely noise from the highway traffic but my room had a door so once it was closed, it was quiet especially at night as the traffic wasn't as busy. It really didn't bother me at all. If you need a place for a few nights, the Happy Salmon will fulfil your needs.

Super clean room, absolutely fine for a roadside motel. The soaps are not terrific, but the pillows are.

Not the quietest of places next to the highway, but spectacularly clean! Great value for an overnighter or two. Staff were pleasant and helpful. I appreciated the hardwood floor as opposed to a carpet. It looked well maintained! I will recommend this place to others.

Clean and nice

There was no fridge in the room other than a full size one not in use. The pillows should be replaced. Overall it was livable but very basic. Good place to stay on a budget if you just need a bed for the night.

The room was clean, bed comfortable and equipped with all the normal expectations.

A great highway stop while travelling into Salmon Arm, best price for the best quality compared to other local establishments. Very pleasant greeting, comfortable and cozy room in the back (not facing the highway!) and great amenities on offer (tv, wifi, coffee). Great for an overnight where we needed to start fresh early the next day!

Actually a very nice place. Clean, well maintained and quiet. The only reason I didn't give it a 5/5 rating is because it is somewhat isolated. Not much around in the way of services.

Vriendelijk ontvangen voor ons verblijf van 1 nacht. Ruime en schone kamer. Je parkeert voor de deur. Er zit wel een keukentje in maar er is geen servies, bestek of potten en pannen, je mag ook niet koken op de kamer. Voor ons geen probleem want dat waren we toch niet van plan 😉Wij waren meer dan tevreden!
