View was amazing and the staff very helpful. We loved our room it was the perfect mountain Lodge experience. Easy access with Swiss rail. Highly recommend.

Gimmelwald is a great spot, quiet and out of the way and beautiful!! Highly recommend staying here to get away from the crowds. Pension Gimmelwald was a fantastic spot with excellent service and wonderful staff.

It was a lovely experience. When staff realized that we were booked into a double room at the end of a steep staircase, they offered us a triple room on the second floor. For our hikes, we could use hiking sticks that were there for the guests to use. My wife could even use a pair of spikes. The food was wonderful prepared with love, and we had nice conversations.

We had an absolutely magical stay. Loved reading in the morning, sledding in the afternoon, and exploring the village of Gimmelwald and Murren. We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast and dinners in the pension as well as nightly beer and hot chocolate.

Beautiful location and next to transportation. It is an old facility. Very hard mattresses. Take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Very noisy as you can hear people talking in the next room. The floor creaks when people are walking in the room above your room and going down the stairs. Opt for the family rooms as they seem to be the ones with views. Our room overlooked the chickens and the clothes line with laundry. We tried the dinner meal the first night and had leek soup, spaghetti and ice cream. It was very bland and not representative of the region. When we checked in they stated we could purchase breakfast between 7:00 and 8:00 AM. We found out it was really served between 8:00 and 9:00 AM. That was too late in our estimation as we wanted to be hiking or catching the cable car. Staff appeared to be overworked though we had one staff member who was nice to us. Some shower rooms have very poor lighting and mold. Gimmelwald is a lovely village.

The staff are fantastic and make you feel at home. It is rustic living among the Swiss of Gimmelwald. I love this town, and love the hotel. The bar is fun to chill and meet others from around the world.

My wife and I found the staff to be extremely down to earth people. The small village of Gimmewald does not have a lot of amenities but we loved how authentic and unspoiled it is. There are many easily accessible hiking trails with outstanding views. The food at the hotel is excellent. I had concerns about having a room with a shared bathroom but that was no problem at all. I have traveled to all 50 states in the US and dozens of countries and this hotel was my favorite place that I have ever stayed at.

Pleasant, quaint atmosphere. Truly peaceful and relaxing. Would go there again.

What an amazing stay. The view alone was worth the trip but being located in a very small town right next to another hostel with like minded travelers there for the experience was priceless. Thank you.

Beautiful small village with amazing views.

A wonderfully authentic old Swiss chalet, wonderful hosts, majestic setting. What more could you ask for?

The location is okay, but if you want more restaurant options it’s better to stay in Mürren. The walls are super thin here and it’s disturbing. We could hear everything above us .. even the zipper on their suitcases. Footsteps and creaking boards are annoying. There was no hot water for showering. I would not stay here again. There are way better places to stay for that price.

The hotel is everything they describe; historic, rustic, quaint, with beautiful views. The village is calm and quiet with beautiful scenic views anyway you look. Many hiking trails pass through the small village.

Rustic and clean place. Nice lobby / bar vibe. We had one dinner there which was simple and good. Breakfasts were totally adequate for all 4 of us. Highly recommend. There are lots of flies but that’s just the deal in the mountains. Loved the location - very quiet but super easy to move around by foot and/or gondola.

Great authentic feeling Swiss Pension, great views from Beer Garden Patio & upper deck, excellent host & staff. Walking paths right out the door.
