Recently we visited Novotel Sunshine Coast for my partner's birthday. I thought it is considered as a 4-star hotel so the quality should be good, but the air conditioner was faulty and didn't work on arrival. After reported twice they still couldn't fix the air-con. By the time it was 9:30 at night, the manager told us that there's nothing they can do and all rooms were not vacant. The temperature in the late November at Sunshine Coast is very hot and humid, the room doesn't have screen doors so leave windows open over night wasn't an option. In the end, my partner insisted that it is not fair to pay full price to the manager, so we got $100 dollars off from the bill but we still need to pay $167 dollars/night for a stinky hot room that supposed to be a 4-star luxury hotel room.
$100 might seem like a good discount, but if you take in to consideration that any budget motel for $70 provides air conditioning then still paying $167 for a room you cannot open up to get air in due to no screens. It’s essentially an over price sweat box and was a horrible experience that will not be remembered well by my partner favourably for his birthday. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
