After driving approximately seven hours while feeling sick, my sister and I arrived expecting a clean room and a good night’s sleep. We had booked two rooms under the same reservation but were initially assigned rooms far apart and had to request they be moved closer together.
Once in our room, I discovered dirty and stained fitted and flat sheets, numerous hairs on the duvet, and stained face cloths. I immediately contacted the front desk. The first replacement sheets were the wrong size (king for a queen bed). When I asked if they were clean, the employee replied that he believed they were. They were not—the fitted sheet was stained and the flat sheet contained another large hair.
A second king fitted sheet was brought by the same young employee, who explained he didn’t normally work in housekeeping and wasn’t even sure it was the correct size. I appreciated that he was trying to help, but it still didn’t resolve the problem.
I asked that someone with the authority to help come to my room. After waiting about 20 minutes, I called again at 8:41 p.m. and was told I had to wait until after 9:00 p.m. for the front desk clerk to be relieved. No one ever came.
By 9:25 p.m. I still had no clean queen sheets. After 11:00 p.m., I gave up waiting and used blankets from my own vehicle.
The room also had a disconnected phone, a missing bathtub plug, a badly peeling office chair, and broken curtains.
For a $206 room, this experience was unacceptable. I’ve requested a full refund.
