The room itself is good but basic, was fine for a one night stopover. Self check-in on a tablet. The kettle in the room leaked when we filled it and covered the table in water. The refill station in the check in area for tea & coffee had run out of milk portions with a note saying sorry. We booked a meal in the pub but unfortunately they had run out of all the grill options including steaks, burgers, chicken wings. We had called ahead from Bakewell to book the table 20 minutes previously and they didn’t mention that so many options were unavailable which was poor as we could have stayed in Bakewell to eat instead. Service was average and a bit nonchalant but they did apologise and say they had a busy Sunday. It seemed they hadn’t been prepared for it. My fish and chips were good but the barbecued pork belly my wife had was not great and a tiny portion. We realised after we had paid and left, that for 2 lager shandies my wife had, we were charged for 2 pints of lager at £13. For the sake of a few pounds we didn’t go back and point it out but it just finished a poor experience. Maybe just a bad weekend for them!

We decided to stay at The Hide because it was conveniently located between Matlock and Bakewell. We had a great day at Matlock Bath before returning to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. We attended the Thursday night Fire and Feast event, which was excellent. The food was great, and the staff were really helpful. I would certainly consider staying here again for that experience. The only issue we had was with the room. It was a family room, so it was a little compact, but that wasn’t a problem. Our main concern was the bathroom. The bath was dirty and had some reddish, slimy residue around the overflow hole. However, the biggest issue was the heat. We stayed during the summer, and I wouldn’t recommend doing so, as the room was so hot that none of us could sleep. Although we were provided with a fan, it was ineffective and did very little to help. We did our best to get some sleep, but in the end, we decided we had to leave and simply drove home.

The room did not have a remote control which was a pain, we did ask and were informed there were no more available. The staff were helpful in allowing us to stay in our room when we had booked two nights separately. The breakfast was good

Comfortable double room and nice clean bathroom. Great shower. Luckily on a hot weekend my room was shaded but other members of our party had very hot rooms. Staff very helpful in providing fans but still quite warm! Good breakfast (full English) and helpful staff.

We loved it! Already booked for next year. The perfect family hotel done with the Chatsworth Estate know-how!

Bed was so comfortable!! Amazing. Not Much storage in the room and no dressing table with mirror to sit and do makeup. Apart from that lovely. Will be back!

Self service check in was broken so needed to check in in the restaurant. I had pre checked in and paid the £60 dog charge but the system was asking for it again, quickly sorted by the manager. Room had a lovely view and was decorated well. There’s nowhere to hang anything, used towels, clothes you need to hang unless you use the hooks in the main room which are over a bench. We had an issue with our tv and when I went to find help for it a member of the bar staff wasn’t very helpful (basically told me depending on which room I was in I might have a newer tv but otherwise most of them hadn’t been replaced since taking over from Premier Inn). Great location and we had a good meal in the restaurant where the staff were lovely but I just felt that overall it wasn’t quite the standard I’d experienced at other Chatsworth properties and eateries.

Ideally located for walking holiday this was a good hotel with good facilities.

It was a clean and budget friendly hotel, it had no aircon or fans so it was unbearable to sleep at night in hot weather. Had everything I needed but couldn’t wait to get out the room.

Nice enough, conveniently located and definitely value for money. Room was clean and tidy and shower was nice and hot, just what was needed for a one night stay. Just a couple of things that weren’t quite 5/5 but no real complaints.
