R really good an amazing place

This was my first visit. It’s a community owned hotel, run by locals who raised a lot of money to take it over and open it up again. They have done a great job. My room was spotless and I told my wife I needed sunglasses on the bedding was so white. A large shower in the en-suite was very welcome after a long day. I had my evening meal there and it was very good,

We stayed in a twin room during a walking holiday. All the staff we met were really friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and the beds comfortable. The room had everything we needed; the hairdryer was helpful as not all 3 star hotels provide one. We had dinner in the bar - we both agreed, it was one of the best bar meals we've had in ages! I really enjoyed my one night stay at Y Pengwern. The bar was friendly when we checked in, and when I was shown my room was amazed at how big it was. I was backpacking and there was plenty of room to reorganise my kit, and the bed was large and very comfortable. After a long day's walk we were looking forward to food, and were very happy with the big hearty meals we had in the restaurant. Breakfast was continental (although you could pay to have a cooked breakfast) but the continental on offer was varied and there was lots of it. Would love to come back another time.

We arrived about 3pm and were met by a cheerful lady who welcomed us and showed us our rooms. The rooms were clean and tidy and totally adequate for what we wanted and expected. All the amenities worked and it all smelt fresh. We got freshened up, had a walk around the village (Stunning views) then came back to eat at the hotel. The place was starting to fill up a bit by 6pm and we chose our meals from the varied and traditional menu. The meal arrived without too much of a wait and it was piping hot and full of flavour, the portions were a good size and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. It was a Saturday and the bar was buzzing, friendly happy people, a great atmosphere. There was a good selection of beers and spirits and the ales were excellent and well kept. All round, a really good place to stay and I would totally recommend it, it was just a shame we were only staying the one night. I nearly forgot the breakfast.... Don't you forget the breakfast... again it was excellent. A continental breakfast is included in the room price but we all opted for the full English and every part of it was cooked to perfection... Brilliant. In summary, don't hesitate to stay at the Y Pengwern, you will not be dissapointed. We will certainly going back, if we get the chance. Thank you to all the staff.... Excellent.

The first room had a leak but there wasn't a problem moving us. The location is just stunning. Didn't stay for breakfast. But overall a pleasant stay.

Water bottle left in room when we arrived dead flys on window sill abit dusty in places… was asked what time we wanted breakfast so said 8 o’clock nobody turned up till 8:25 then told cooked breakfast wasn’t an option for weekdays which wasn’t specified…. But lovely views from our room

Coming from North America and long drive to this location, it wasn't an ideal place to relax. Of course it seems they were more of a pub then actual hotel you can sleep and relax. Very noisy outside. Wouldn't recommend for a family. Staff was excellent very cooperative to handlenthe situation.

Absolutely great hotel. The hotel and bar are run by the local community to increase employment. The staff are so very helpful and friendly. The locals are excellent fun! A fantastic dog friendly hotel!

I booked my stay with breakfast included. However, when I arrived for breakfast on the morning, I was told that only a continental breakfast was included, and that I would have to pay extra for a full breakfast. This was very misleading, as one of the main reasons I booked this stay was because I believed breakfast was included as stated in the booking. The booking information did not clearly state that only a continental breakfast was provided. Although the staff apologised, I was still charged for the full breakfast. I don’t believe this was fair, as the confusion was caused by the incorrect or unclear information provided at the time of booking.

Room big n clean. Nice pub.

Clean and comfortable room. Good shower, lovely bedding. There was no remote for the tv so had to manually change channel, bedside lamp but no plug socket to use it. Breakfast was good, ample enough choice for continental.

Good single room in this inn for a traveller at reasonable rate. Great basic breakfast, pay a bit extra for cooked stuff. Lovely friendly staff. I loved the bar atmosphere, a hub for locals and for Welsh singing and music-making (at weekend, when I was there, at least.) Good Celtic kind of "craic".

The room was clean, parking outside the hotel, and the staff were helpful.

Rude staff members, room falling apart. Would not recommend at its current price very disappointing end to my roadtrip.

A very good choice if you want to recover before a hike. Very chill space with a comfortable parking in Snowdonia. With a breakfast included

Great for my work, very nice Staff and nice continental breakfast. Single room & mattress was ok, albeit could do with a revamp, overall a nice stay.
