Cruachan Guest House

The tv was unstable, the bed was saggy and the table lamp didn’t work otherwise I was warm and comfortable. I would stay here again.

Excellant guest house very clean & comfortable ,easy access to city & sights.Breakfast was generous & fresh.Staff were very helpful .

Lovely proprietor, great stay, would stay again

Stayed one night with the family. Facilities are old but would have been ok if it had been properly cleaned. It had been cleaned but not to a high standard. Only visible areas had been cleaned. Toilet and sink not properly cleaned, so asked the host, who said they were clean, so asked for cloth and cleaning spray and cleaned myself. Lots of dust, mould in corners of ceiling and dirty windows. No wardrobe in the room. No luggage storage at all. Breakfast was very basic with low quality ingredients. Definitely not what I would have expected for the price nor from the reviews. Who wrote them?? They don’t reflect reality. Was very disappointed and would not recommend to anyone.

Mobin looked after us, and the breaky was very yummy! Little bit of a walk into town but not too bad. Lots of stairs inside, and the property is dated, but functional. Was perfectly fine for what we needed.

Poor breakfast options and very noisy rooms due to thin walls. Location was ok.

Absolutely LOVED our stay! The gracious host is outstanding, especially the made to order breakfasts! The room was spacious and great; the bathroom was a good size although the shower itself was a little small. We’d stay here again and again!

The Cruachan House offers a decent and comfortable stay. The host is very nice and helpful, plus he makes a very nice breakfast. The house itself is a bit dated, and our bedroom was fairly small; however, our bathroom was quite spacious and recently renovated. The location is great and only about a 10 minute walk from the popular Grassmarket area. It might be about a 15 minute walk to the Royal Mile.

Nice Guest House. Friendly owner. Rooms tidy and clean. No access to a toaster etc though, which would of been nice as I had to leave the B and B before breakfast hours to catch my flight when I stayed 3 weeks before. Good value for money however.

Our stay at Cruachan was good. Bed (room 2 top floor) was adequate, not the comfiest but I wouldn’t want to haul a bigger mattress up all those awkward stairs either ;) Lovely fresh modern shower room which was surprisingly large. Breakfast was good and freshly cooked to order. I would not mark the stay down because of this, but Hotels.com advertise this as having free on site parking and this was the reason I booked here, this is NOT true. In torrential rain it was no fun searching for a place to park and the traffic wardens are ninjas!! Thanks to Hotels.com for the £30 ticket!!
