Your Travel Guide to Quezon City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Quezon City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers coming from other parts of the Philippines, flying into Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila is the most common and efficient method. From major cities like Cebu, Davao, or Iloilo, you can find numerous flights daily. It's always a good idea to book flight tickets in advance, especially during peak seasons, to secure better prices and ensure availability. Fares can range significantly, but booking ahead often yields savings.

Once you land at NAIA, you have several options to reach Quezon City. Taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available at the airport terminals. The journey to Quezon City, depending on your specific destination within the city and traffic conditions, can take anywhere from 45 minutes to over an hour. The estimated cost for a taxi or ride-sharing service can range from PHP 400 to PHP 700.

Alternatively, if you are traveling from nearby provinces in Luzon, inter-provincial buses are a more economical choice. Major bus companies operate routes to various terminals within Metro Manila, including those that can connect you to Quezon City. From these bus terminals, you can then take a local taxi, ride-sharing service, or public utility jeepneys (PUJs) to reach your final destination within Quezon City. This option is ideal for those who prefer land travel or are coming from closer regions.

Best Time to Visit Quezon City

Quezon City, like much of Metro Manila, experiences a tropical climate characterized by distinct wet and dry seasons. The dry season generally runs from November to April, offering the most pleasant weather for exploring the city. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity, making it ideal for outdoor activities, sightseeing, and enjoying the city's attractions. Temperatures typically range from the mid-20s to low 30s Celsius.

The wet season typically spans from May to October. While this period is marked by frequent rainfall, including occasional heavy downpours and typhoons, it doesn't mean you should avoid visiting. The rain often comes in short, intense bursts, usually in the afternoon, leaving the rest of the day clear. Traveling during the wet season can also mean fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation prices, offering a different kind of travel experience.

For Filipino travelers seeking the best balance of good weather and manageable crowds, the months of November to February are often considered ideal. This period falls within the dry season but is just after the peak holiday rush, offering a comfortable climate for exploration without the intense heat of March to May. Regardless of when you choose to visit, always check the weather forecast closer to your travel dates and pack accordingly.

Food and Dining Near Quezon City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Quezon City is a culinary hotspot, offering a diverse range of Filipino dishes that showcase the country's rich gastronomic heritage. When you're in the area, make sure to try Adobo, the unofficial national dish. This savory and tangy stew, typically made with chicken or pork braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns, is a staple in Filipino households and restaurants alike. The distinct sourness is usually derived from tamarind, but other fruits like guava or kamias can also be used, offering a refreshing and palate-cleansing experience. It’s a perfect dish for a warm day or when you crave something hearty and flavorful.

For those who enjoy grilled specialties, Lechon Kawali is an absolute delight. This dish features deep-fried pork belly with a crispy, golden-brown skin and tender, succulent meat. It's often served with a side of soy-vinegar dipping sauce, which perfectly complements the richness of the pork. It’s a popular choice for celebrations and casual dining alike.

Don't leave Quezon City without sampling Halo-Halo, the ultimate Filipino dessert. This iconic treat is a delightful concoction of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream. It's a colorful and refreshing way to end any meal, offering a symphony of textures and sweet flavors that are uniquely Filipino. You can find these dishes and more in local eateries and restaurants scattered throughout Quezon City.

This has got to be the most inconvenient stay I had to pay. With faulty elevators that will close within 3 seconds of opening, to poorly maintained rooms that had drapes that never saw the washing machine since installation. We had to transfer to 3 rooms, after an unacceptable offer. I made the conscious choice to even upgrade and pay for a suite! With no water bottles and no hot water coming from the faucet! A suite they say! And all of this inconvenience, happening at 2:00am in the morning. I work and travel a lot and my stay always demand a peaceful and restful sleep (this is not my first account with app). And because I have to leave early for work (I checked out at 8:00am), I had the most annoying, unsatisfactory, tired stay at his hotel. There is nothing Imperial about this hotel. Do not for the love of travel nor leisure, under any circumstance book yourself in this hell hole. I won't pay even 1 Peso to have a restless night here. I'm sorry but this place is a ripoff.

We will never recommend this hotel! Hidden charges is real! Don’t book especially if you’ll attend a party in a nearby place. Guess what? They asked us to pay p5,000 for entrance fee of our MMUA who stayed for an hour. Other hotels do not charge, except for formal gatherings. Our MMUA rendered service at luxent, marco polo and sofitel a day before and did not experience such. My other office mate who booked for a room was also charged for p2,000 because two persons dropped by at her room just to bring her stuff. Yes, you read that right! You have to deposit p1,000 incidental fee, which you may not get if they see anything against their undisclosed house rules! Our towels were still at the laundry when we arrived. Key card was delivered in our room after an hour. Booked for 4 but toiletries were good for 2 only. You have to follow-up every little thing you need that were supposed to be inside in a fully paid room. No heater, so good luck on your shower experience. We asked for a hair blower but they gave one without an adapter. Really? Most of all, I don’t know why you hire incompetent staff, especially the front desk people. All they can do was to mumble. We wanted to talk to the manager but they said he/she was unavailable/out of the country. Or was it just another excuse? Come on. Poor service!

My first time to stay at imperial palace and I think that would be the last time! Yes receptionist are nice but the room itself, my goodness! The pillows, all brown colors I think its the same pillow when the hotel started, u can even see those water marks or should I say saliva marks! The pillow case got a hole and they just make obvious stitches, seems like an elementary student did. The comforter were not white colors, all brown! Yes they swept the floor but u can really see the stain which I think I myself can even remove those! No directory which number should I call I i need something. Oh lastly I cant forget, I hug one pillow then end up throwing it on the floor in the middle of the night because, I woke up my tummy and arm were itchy! I totally regret booked at this hotel. I should took photos to prove it. I'm not sure if I were the only one experienced it or only that room. By the way, they will give u wifi password but u cant use it. 😅

This is the only hotel I have seen without a front desk officer available when we were checking in last night. We had to wait for 5 minutes because according to the security guard the officer went to the restroom. When we got into the room, there's no bottled water, hair dryer, toiletries (only one toothbrush). So I had to go down and asked for water and hairdryer. But they said they cant serve us water until 9am the next morning because the department responsible for it is already closed. And that the hair dryer will just be delivered into our room. After almost two hours, I went down again to follow up for the hair dryer and they said they've found one available but still looking for an adapter. The hairdryer was delivered that night anyway. This morning we were waiting for the water until we checked out no water was brought to the room. We also wanted to iron out some shirt but also no iron and iron board in the room but it is listed as one of their room amenities. But we were already disappointed that's why we no longer ask for these. Definitely will not book and stay in this hotel again!

The room was spacious and well lit. The guards were very friendly. But they have to work on their cleanliness, as the floor was dirty and they were not able to throw the trash from the previous user. They also don't have trash cans in the room. Room service is also sloppy, I tried to borrow drinking glass or goblet, asked for ice and hot water they do not have it. The reception said that their kitchen is under renovation so they do not have anything as it was locked. Is that even possible? Not have anything when your operating a hotel?".

The stay was good. We had time to relax and spend time as a family. However, tell the reception if your pillow or curtains has stain before you use them because they will charge you.

We held our friend's bridal shower at this hotel. The hotel is lenient in terms of allowing us to decorate the room as well as making some noise. And we are thankful for that. The room was spacious. Staffs are courteous and hospitable. Our only problem, there are no towels provided in our room. We make several requests and followups. It was only on the day of our checkout, 3hours before check-out to be exact, we were given 2 pieces of towel. 2 pieces!

This hotel has good location, the room was big and perfect for the whole family, but the service was poor due to lack of employees, as we arrived no bell boy on the lobby and the front desk is not accommodating and they did not give courtesy to the guest, this hotel is very malungkot, will never stay on this hotel again.
