Brief History of Mount Faber

Mount Faber was originally named Telok Blangah Hill. It was renamed to Mount Faber in July 1845 to honor Charles Edward Faber, an engineer from Madras who constructed a winding road to the hill's top for setting up a signal station.

In 1964, a beautiful park was established on Mount Faber – offering tourists breathtaking panoramic views of Keppel Harbour and the Central Business District. Then, in 2005, the cable car station on Mount Faber became Faber Peak, a famous spot among tourists. Here, you can enjoy cocktails at bars and restaurants while overlooking stunning views.

How to Get to Mount Faber

Getting to Mount Faber using public transportation might not be as convenient because there are no bus stops or MRT stations directly at Mount Faber. You'd need to get off at the nearest bus stop or MRT station and then walk for about 15 minutes or more – depending on your fitness level.

The easiest and most hassle-free ways to reach Mount Faber are by car, taxi, or the cable car. Check out the details below:

• By cable car: Ride the Singapore Cable Car, Mount Faber Line, from either Harbourfront or Sentosa and alight at Mount Faber Station.
• By car or taxi: Go to 109 Mount Faber Road, Mount Faber Peak, Singapore 099203.
• By bus + hike: Take bus numbers 10, 30, 57, 61, 65, 80, 97, 100, 123M, 131, 143, 145, 166, 188R, 855, 963R and alight at Opp VivoCity. After that, prepare for a 15-minute uphill walk of approximately 700m along Marang Trail. Please be aware that this hike is challenging and involves plenty of steps.
• By MRT + hike: Take the MRT to Harbourfront Station, use exit D, and then start a 15-minute uphill walk along the Marang Trail for about 700 meters. Be prepared for a challenging hike with plenty of steps along the way.

Write Your Wish on Wishing Bells

Not far from the Bell of Happiness is Wishing Bells. The concept of this place is similar to the love locks in Namsan Tower, South Korea, which is a fence with lots of padlocks. You can buy a padlock at a shop near the cable car location, then write your wish on the padlock and attach it to the fence.

Catch Sunset at Henderson Waves
