Like a country bazaar or a street market, there is a night market (also known as Pasar Malam in Malay) sets up in different places of Langkawi On every day of the week. Locally known as pasar malam, it is a lively affair with many vendors setting up stalls at these markets and sell a wide range of local items including local food & snacks, fresh produce, fruits & juices, clothes, souvenirs & trinkets, watches, sunglasses, wallets & hand bags, paintings, DVDs and many other goods at affordable prices and please note that the watches, sunglasses and all the displayed branded items are likely to be all artificial. The best thing is, prices can be reduced as much as possible as bargaining is widely practiced here. Do not be surprised as some of the stalls here offer foot massaging service! An ideal place for bargain hunters, the night market is a great meeting place for the locals and expatriates. The night market is the best place to try out diverse types of local delicacies at relatively cheap prices. Favorite dishes here include the grilled seafood, chicken or beef satay, murtabak, green mango salad, lemon grass chicken on sticks, fresh fruit juices and so on. Ocassionally, if it's raining on the day, many vendors will not turn up to set up their stalls. You can search further on the internet or from the local tourism centre to get the latest Langkawi night market schedule and venues.
