Take a break from the cultural temples of Chiang Mai and explore two of the province’s national parks, Op Luang and Op Khan. So lace up your hiking shoes and get ready to spend the day trekking through lush foliage, gushing rivers and creeks, and lofty gorges.
The park’s main attraction is the magnificent Op Luang (which the park was named after), a steep 300-meter canyon that was carved out by the Mae Chaem River. We’ll pass by numerous caves and waterfalls as we explore the park and take in the stunning natural scenery. We’ll have a bit of a breather when we stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch we’ll make our way to Op Khan National Park, a popular weekend spot for Thai families who spend the day wading in the numerous swimming holes or sharing a picnic on the banks of the river. Similar to Op Luang, this national park is known for its scenic trails passing gorges, caves, rivers, and more. We’ll take in the raw beauty of the landscape and stop for amazing photos along the way.
