Newcastle residents will no longer need to travel down to Sydney or connect via another city to take off to Bali, after Jetstar today announced its newest route. From October, you’ll be able to fly directly from Newcastle to Bali (Denpasar).
Flying three times a week, Jetstar will be able to shuttle up to 70,000 people between the New South Wales city and the Indonesian island.
Jetstar CEO Steph Tully said in a press release that the airline “is committed to making travel more accessible, and people living in and around Newcastle will no longer need to drive to other airports to fly overseas, which means more time and money can go toward their holiday.”
To celebrate the new route, you’ll be able to snag fares from just $199 each way. This is a 24-hour flash sale though, so prices will likely increase after that.
Compared to what’s currently on the market, these are both cheaper and faster.
We tested out some dates and Virgin Australia is double the price and, as it needs to stop along the way, three hours longer. Qantas costs even more and takes a minimum of 16 hours for the journey.
The first flight from Newcastle Airport to Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport will take off on 20 October, 2025.
The flights are currently schedule to depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 9:30am, with an arrival in Bali at 1:05pm.
For the return journey, flights will depart Bali on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11:10pm and arriving in Newcastle at 8:05am the next day. From 27 October though, the schedule will change slightly with a 10:20pm departure and a 7:15am arrival.
Cutting at least three hours off current connecting options, Newcastle’s direct flights to Bali will take just 6 hours and 35 minutes.
