Known for its lush landscapes, tropical scenes, vibrant culture, and stunning beaches, there’s a lot to love about Bali. Whether you’re exploring serene rice terraces, immersing yourself in ancient temples, or spending the day at a world-class Balinese spa, Bali has something for everyone. And if you’re looking to book a trip to Bali in November, then you’re at the right place. Below, we cover everything you need to know before you go.

Is November a good time to visit Bali?

If you prefer fewer crowds and a more relaxed trip, November is a great time to visit Bali. While it is the beginning of the wet season during this time, the rain brings out the island’s lush greenery, which makes sightseeing and visits to ancient temples even more magical. Plus, as it falls outside major holidays, you’ll get a more local and authentic vibe when you visit.

If you’re looking for non-stop sunshine and days spent lounging at the beach, November isn’t particularly the best time to visit Bali. Nonetheless, the best time to visit Bali depends on what you’re after from this trip.

Is November a cheap or expensive time to visit Bali?

November is generally considered an affordable time to visit Bali. Falling at the start of shoulder season and right before the busy end-of-year holiday rush. Flights, accommodation, and activities are likely to be at their cheapest during this time, too.

Weather in Bali in November

As mentioned, it is the start of the wet season in Bali in November. You can expect warm, humid weather with frequent short bursts of rain in the afternoons or evenings. While rain is expected, there will be days or windows during the day with plenty of sunshine.

Just pack a light rain jacket along with breathable clothes, and you’ll be well prepared.

Where to go in Bai in November

Ubud: Filled with lush rice terraces, waterfalls, and plenty of cultural attractions, Ubud is a great place to visit all year round, but especially good in November. And while Ubud is a popular spot for tourists, choosing to visit during the shoulder season is a lot quieter and less crowded.
Bedugul: With a cooler mountainous climate, Bedugul’s natural beauty truly shines in November. Think sparkling lakes, misty mornings, magical botanical gardens, and serene temples like Ulun Danu Beratan.
Uluwatu: Another popular spot in Bali, all year round, is Uluwatu. Uluwatu is actually a lot drier compared to the northern or central parts of Bali during November. This means you’ll experience unbeatable cliffside views, immersive temples like Uluwatu Temple, and days spent lounging at a beach club without getting too caught up in monsoons.
Seminyak: Rain or shine, Seminyak’s trendy cafes, buzzing nightlife, and good beach vibes remain high in November.

Festivals and events in Bali in November

Galungan & Kunigan: Following the Balinese Pawukon calendar, Galungan and Kunigan occur twice a year. Once in April-May and once in November. Galungan marks the time when ancestral spirits return to earth to visit the living. During this time, families make offerings, clean their homes and temples, and prepare food for the spirits. You’ll see Penjor, tall bamboo poles decorated with coconut leaves and offerings, placed in front of every home, lining the streets. This festival lasts 10 days, ending with Kunigan — the departure of the ancestral spirits. Temples often hold special barong dances and ceremonial parades.
Tumpek Kandang: Every 210 days, Tumpek Kandang is a day to celebrate, honour, and thank domestic animals, livestock, and household pets. Many families will perform ceremonies, prayers, and celebrate their pets. You can visit farms or temples to observe rituals.
Makepung Lampit Festival: Bali’s unique buffalo racing tradition is held in rice fields in Jembrana. Tourists, villagers, and locals cheer on teams in this unique festival and event between July and November.

Best things to do in Bali in November

Explore Temples: Visit iconic temples like Uluwatu Temple, Besakih or Tirta Empul. Short rain bursts make temples even more magical and atmospheric.
Visit Rice Terraces: Embrace the rain and visit famous rice terraces like Tegalalang or Jatiluwih in November. The rain brings out the island’s natural beauty. Just plan your trip in the morning, as rain tends to make an appearance in the late afternoon or evening.
Hike Mount Batur: A sunrise hike to Mount Batur is great in November. Of course, this is weather permitting, but as rain tends to only come in during the afternoon or evening, hikes to Mount Batur in November are generally good to go.
Relax At A Balinese Spa: Why not escape the rain once and for all, and spend a day relaxing at a Balinese spa? Think indulgent treatments, massages, and flower baths.
Cafe Hop: Cafe culture is popping in places like Seminyak or Ubud, so carve out a day to cafe hop between your favourite spots.
