Changi Airport (SIN) FAQ

Is Changi Airport open 24 hours?
Changi Airport does not publish a single opening time, but it lists many services that run around the clock. Free snooze lounges in departure transit, left baggage, ATMs, taxi stands and the walking links between T1, T2 and T3 are all available 24 hours.
How do I get from Changi Airport to the city?
Take the MRT from Changi Airport station, signposted 'Train to City' from T2 and T3, and change at Tanah Merah or Expo. A taxi from any terminal takes about 30 minutes to the city, and Grab, Gojek and public buses are other options.
Who operates Changi Airport?
Changi Airport is operated by Changi Airport Group (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. The group runs all four passenger terminals at SIN, and Jewel is linked to T1, T2 and T3.
Which terminal does Qantas use at Changi Airport?
Qantas uses Terminal 1 at Changi Airport, the same terminal as Scoot, British Airways, Emirates and Qatar Airways. The Qantas lounge at SIN is also in T1.
Which terminal does Jetstar use at Changi Airport?
Jetstar uses Terminal 2 at Changi Airport. The MRT station is signposted 'Train to City' from the T2 halls, so it is simple to reach by train.
Which terminal does Singapore Airlines use at Changi?
Singapore Airlines uses both Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 at Changi Airport, depending on the flight. Check the terminal on your e-ticket, as the two are linked by the Skytrain and walkways but are separate halls.
Where is Changi Airport?
Changi Airport is in Changi, in Singapore's East Region at the far east of the island. The city is about 30 minutes away by taxi.
How do I get to Terminal 4 at Changi Airport?
T4 is not on the Changi Skytrain. A free shuttle bus runs to T4 from T1 and Jewel and from T2 in the public area in about 10 minutes, or you can walk from T2 through the Changi Airport Connector. Airside, the transit shuttle takes about 10 to 18 minutes and needs a through-checked itinerary.
Can I visit Jewel during a transit at Changi Airport?
Jewel is in the public area at Changi Airport, so transit passengers must clear immigration to visit it. Check Singapore's entry requirements for your passport first, and allow enough time to return through departures.
What is there to do at Changi Airport?
Changi Airport has the Rain Vortex, Forest Valley and Canopy Park in Jewel, plus the Butterfly Garden in T3 transit and The Slide@T3. Transit passengers can also use a free movie theatre in T3, a pool in T1 and free snooze lounges in every terminal.
How early should I arrive at Changi Airport?
Changi Airport advises checking in at least 2 hours before departure. If you have checked in online, reach the departure transit hall 1 hour before departure, or 45 minutes before with no hold baggage.
Is there left luggage at Changi Airport?
Yes. Left baggage at Changi Airport is available 24 hours in every terminal, on both the public and transit sides, and on Level 1 of Jewel.
Does Singapore have another airport besides Changi?
Yes, Seletar Airport (XSP) is a separate airport in Singapore. Firefly uses it for its Subang flights, but Firefly also flies from Changi T2, so check which airport your ticket shows.
Is there parking at Changi Airport?
Changi Airport has eight car parks, with short-term parking at every terminal and a short free grace period for pick-ups and drop-offs. Pre-booked parking is available for stays over 24 hours, and the car parks offer paid EV charging.

Singapore Changi Airport (SIN): Flights, Flight Schedule, Terminals & Jewel

Changi Airport (SIN), officially Singapore Changi Airport, is Singapore's main international airport, whether Singapore is your destination or a stop on a longer journey. It sits in Changi, in the far east of the island, roughly 30 minutes from the city by taxi. There are four passenger terminals, Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3 and Terminal 4, and every one of them is international, because Changi has no domestic flights. Between T1, T2 and T3 sits Jewel Changi Airport, a public garden and attraction complex best known for its Rain Vortex waterfall.

Singapore also has a separate airport, Seletar Airport (XSP), which Firefly uses for its Subang flights. Firefly flies from Changi T2 as well, so check which airport your ticket names. This guide is written for travellers coming from Australia. It covers which terminal your airline uses, how transfers work if you are connecting, getting into the city, parking, facilities and the attractions worth leaving time for.

Terminals and airlines at Changi Airport

Changi Airport's terminals are spread across a large site, so the terminal on your booking decides which train stop, car drop-off and check-in hall you need. For travellers from Australia, the main names to know are Qantas, Scoot, British Airways, Emirates and Qatar Airways in T1, Jetstar in T2, Air New Zealand in T3, and Singapore Airlines, which uses both T2 and T3. Airlines move between terminals from time to time, so always check the terminal on your e-ticket before travelling. The airport's passenger airline directory lists the carriers below.

Terminal 1 (T1)

T1 is linked directly to Jewel, and its arrival hall opens into the Jewel complex. Its airlines include several that serve Australia and the Pacific:

  • Air China
  • Air France
  • Air Niugini
  • Bangkok Airways
  • British Airways
  • China Southern Airlines
  • Chongqing Airlines
  • Emirates
  • Fiji Airways
  • Finnair
  • Japan Airlines
  • KLM Royal Dutch Airlines
  • Qantas
  • Qatar Airways
  • Scoot
  • Shandong Airlines
  • Shenzhen Airlines
  • Turkish Airlines
  • Xiamen Airlines
  • ZIPAIR

Terminal 2 (T2)

The 'Train to City' signs for the MRT station start in the T2 arrival and departure halls, so this terminal is easy to reach by rail. Its airlines are:

  • Air Canada
  • Air India
  • Air India Express
  • ANA
  • Ethiopian Airlines
  • Etihad Airways
  • Firefly
  • IndiGo
  • Jetstar
  • Lufthansa
  • Malaysia Airlines
  • Myanmar Airways International
  • Myanmar National Airlines
  • Oman Air
  • Peach Aviation
  • Philippine Airlines
  • Royal Brunei Airlines
  • Sichuan Airlines
  • Singapore Airlines
  • STARLUX Airlines
  • SWISS
  • Thai Airways
  • United Airlines

Terminal 3 (T3)

T3 has its own signposted route to the MRT station, and Jewel sits in the public area between T2 and T3. Singapore Airlines shares its flights between T2 and T3, so a Singapore Airlines booking needs a quick check of the terminal:

  • Air New Zealand
  • Aircalin
  • Asiana Airlines
  • Biman Bangladesh Airlines
  • China Airlines
  • China Eastern Airlines
  • Citilink
  • Drukair
  • EVA Air
  • Garuda Indonesia
  • Gulf Air
  • Saudia
  • Shanghai Airlines
  • Singapore Airlines
  • SriLankan Airlines
  • T'way Air
  • US-Bangla Airlines
  • Vietnam Airlines

Terminal 4 (T4)

T4 stands apart from the other three terminals and is not on the Skytrain. You reach it by shuttle bus or, from T2, on foot through the Changi Airport Connector:

  • 9 Air
  • Aero Dili
  • Air Macau
  • AirAsia
  • AirBorneo
  • Batik Air
  • Batik Air Malaysia
  • Cambodia Airways
  • Cathay Pacific
  • Cebu Pacific
  • Hainan Airlines
  • Jeju Air
  • Juneyao Airlines
  • Korean Air
  • Loong Air
  • MIAT Mongolian Airlines
  • Pelita Air
  • Spring Airlines
  • Sun PhuQuoc Airways
  • Thai AirAsia
  • Thai Lion Air
  • Tianjin Airlines
  • TransNusa
  • Vietjet
  • West Air

Moving between terminals at Changi

T1, T2 and T3 are linked by the free Skytrain in both the public and transit areas. You can also walk: travellators link the terminals inside the transit area, and link bridges join them in the public area at any hour.

T4 works differently. A free shuttle bus runs to T4 in the public area from T1 and Jewel and from T2, taking about 10 minutes. In the transit area, the shuttle bus to T4 takes about 10 to 18 minutes, and you can only transfer airside to T4 when your bags are checked through on one itinerary. Without that, you will need to clear immigration and travel in the public area instead.

Transit and connections at Changi Airport

If Changi is a stopover on your way to Europe, the Middle East or elsewhere in Asia, the type of ticket matters. When both flights are on one booking with bags checked through, you normally stay airside and follow the transfer signs to your next gate. Use the Skytrain or the walkways for T1, T2 and T3, and the transit shuttle bus for T4.

On separate tickets, plan for more time. You may need to clear immigration, collect your bags and check in again for the onward flight. Singapore's entry requirements apply as soon as you leave the transit area, so read the official Singapore government guidance for your passport before you book a self-transfer.

Jewel is in the public area, which means transit passengers must clear immigration to visit it. On a long layover, eligible transit passengers can also join the airport's Free Singapore Tour. Check the eligibility rules on the airport's website before you count on it.

Getting from Changi Airport to the city

Changi Airport is well served by public transport and cars, and you can choose based on budget, luggage and arrival time. Fares are shown at the station, the counter or in each operator's app, so check them there before you travel.

MRT train

Changi Airport MRT station (CG2) is signposted 'Train to City' from the arrival and departure halls of T2 and T3. For the city, change at Tanah Merah for the East West Line or at Expo for the Downtown Line. If you land at T1 or T4, take the Skytrain, the link bridges or the shuttle bus to T2 or T3 first.

Taxi

Taxi stands are in the arrival areas of T1, T2, T3 and T4, and taxis are available 24 hours a day. The ride to the city takes about 30 minutes, and it is often the simplest option after a long overnight flight.

Private hire cars

Ride-hailing services such as Grab and Gojek collect passengers from marked arrival and ride-hailing pick-up points at all four terminals. Book once you have your bags and walk to the pick-up point for your terminal.

Public bus

Public buses leave from the basement bus bays. Routes include 24, 27, 34, 36, 53, 110 and 858. Most of these services do not run overnight, so they suit daytime arrivals best.

Ground Transport Concierge

For a pre-booked car, the Ground Transport Concierge has 24-hour counters at every terminal. In T1 it is at Arrival Pick-up in the basement, and in T2, T3 and T4 it is on Level 1 of the arrival hall.

Car rental

Car rental counters are on Level 1 of the arrival halls in T1, T2, T3 and T4. A hire car can be handy for families with lots of luggage.

Parking at Changi Airport

Changi Airport has eight car parks and four coach stands. Every terminal has short-term parking with a brief free grace period for pick-ups and drop-offs. For stays of more than 24 hours, pre-booked parking is available, and there is paid EV charging for electric cars. The car parks are run by Wilson Parking for the airport. Check current rates on the airport's parking page before you go.

Opening hours at Changi Airport

Changi Airport does not publish a single opening-hours statement. What it does list is a long range of services that run around the clock. The free snooze lounges in departure transit, left baggage, ATMs and taxi stands are all available 24 hours. The link bridges and travellators between T1, T2 and T3 can also be used at any hour.

For most travellers, that means a late arrival or an early departure is easy to manage inside the airport. Some transport, such as most public bus routes, does not run overnight, so plan your trip into the city if you land in the small hours.

Jewel and things to do at Changi Airport

A long connection at Changi does not have to be wasted time. Here are the attractions listed by the airport and Jewel.

Jewel Changi Airport

Jewel is in the public area and is linked to T1, T2 and T3. Its centrepiece is the Rain Vortex, a 40-metre indoor waterfall that comes alive in the evening with a light and music show. Around it, the Forest Valley is an indoor garden, and Canopy Park sits on the top level, Level 5.

Gardens and attractions in transit

Passengers airside have plenty of places to wander. T3 has the Butterfly Garden across Levels 2 and 3 and the Crystal Garden in transit. T2 has the Sunflower Garden on Level 3 and the Enchanted Garden on Level 2, while T1 has the Cactus Garden on Level 3 and the Water Lily Garden on Level 2. In T4 transit, look for the Heritage Zone and the Chandelier playground.

More to do

The Slide@T3 runs from Level 1 to B2 in the T3 public area, and the Kinetic Rain moving sculpture hangs in the T1 departure hall. In transit, there is a free movie theatre in T3 on Level 3, a swimming pool with a jacuzzi in T1 on Level 3, and TV lounges in all terminals. Each terminal also has a viewing mall in its public area for watching aircraft.

Facilities at Changi Airport

Facilities at Changi are spread across all four terminals, both landside and in transit. These are the ones travellers from Australia look for most.

Terminal layout

The layout is the same in each terminal. The Arrival Hall is on Level 1 and the Departure Hall, where you check in, is on Level 2. The departure transit area is also on Level 2. Lounges and some gardens are one floor up, on Level 3 in T1, T2 and T3, or on Level 2M in T4.

Lounges

Changi has both pay-per-use and airline lounges. Entry to airline lounges depends on your fare class or frequent flyer status.

  • Pay-per-use: Plaza Premium Lounge (T1), Ambassador Transit Lounge (T2, T3), SATS Premier Lounge (T1, T2, T3), Marhaba Lounge (T1, T3), Blossom - SATS & Plaza Premium Lounge (T4), JetQuay (T2) and Changi Lounge in Jewel, landside
  • Airline lounges: Singapore Airlines SilverKris and KrisFlyer Gold lounges (T2, T3); Qantas, British Airways, Emirates and Qatar Airways lounges (T1); Cathay Pacific lounge (T4)

Rest areas

Free snooze lounges are open 24/7 in the departure transit areas of all four terminals. You will find them on Level 3 in T1, at the North and South piers in T2, at North and South in T3, and on Level 2M in T4.

Left baggage

Left baggage is available in every terminal, on both the public and transit sides, and on Level 1 of Jewel. It runs 24 hours a day, useful if you want to explore Singapore during a long layover without your bags.

Smoking areas

Smoking is allowed only in designated areas. These are in the departure transit halls of all terminals and at the arrival and departure kerbsides.

ATMs and money changers

ATMs are open 24 hours in the public and transit areas of all terminals and on Level B1 of Jewel. Money changers are in the T1 transit area.

Showers

Paid showers are in transit at T1 on Level 3, near the C gates, and on Level 3 of T2 and T3. Landside, T2 Level 1 has a pay-per-use shower and locker facility.

Free wifi and charging

Free #WiFi@Changi covers the public and transit areas of every terminal, with no registration needed. Charging points are at seating areas in the departure and arrival halls, inside gate holdrooms and in the free rest areas.

Prayer rooms

Prayer rooms are in the transit areas, on Level 3 in T1 and T2, on Level 2 (South) in T3, and on Level 2M in T4.

Clinics and pharmacies

There are clinics in transit at all four terminals, plus landside clinics at T2 (B1), T3 (B2) and in the T4 arrival hall. Pharmacies are in the transit areas of every terminal and in the T2 departure hall.

Families and accessibility

Baby care rooms are found throughout all terminals and in Jewel. Each terminal has a children's play area, including the Chandelier playground in T4 transit. Wheelchairs and other accessibility aids are available on request.

Tips for departing from and arriving at Changi Airport

For a flight out of Changi Airport, the airport asks passengers to check in at least 2 hours before departure. If you have already checked in online, be at the departure transit hall 1 hour before departure, or 45 minutes before if you have no hold baggage. Your airline may set its own cut-off, so follow what your booking says.

Arriving from Australia, you will clear immigration and customs before reaching the public arrival hall. Singapore's arrival requirements, including any arrival card, are set by the Singapore Government, so read the official guidance well before you fly. Heading home, your return to Australia is governed by Australian entry rules, which are worth a check too.

Changi is big, so leave time to reach the right terminal, especially T4, which is not on the Skytrain. For live departure and arrival information on the day, use the Traveloka flight status page.

Flights and flight schedule from Changi Airport

Planning the trip home, or a side trip around Asia? The fare cards on this page show fares from Singapore to popular destinations, so you can compare routes quickly. The flight schedule tables list upcoming departures and arrivals at Changi Airport by date, with the airline and scheduled times. They show a selection of flights rather than the full timetable, so treat them as a guide to what suits your dates.

Choose a route, compare airlines and departure times, and note the terminal before you book. If the fare is not right, set a Price Alert and Traveloka will let you know when it changes. Your e-ticket comes by email and in the app, with the terminal shown.
