Changi Airport (SIN), officially Singapore Changi Airport, is Singapore's main international airport. It sits in Changi, in the East Region at the far eastern end of the island, and a taxi to the city takes about 30 minutes. Changi Airport Group runs it. There are four passenger terminals, T1, T2, T3 and T4, and every one of them handles international flights, because Singapore has no domestic air routes. Jewel Changi Airport, the glass-domed complex in the public area, links T1, T2 and T3. Singapore's other airport, Seletar (XSP) in the north-east, is mainly for business and general aviation and also handles a small number of scheduled flights.
Many people look up Changi for what there is to do as much as for their flight. So this guide starts with Jewel, the gardens and the free attractions, then covers which airlines use which terminal, how to get to the city, parking, facilities and a few tips for departure day.
Changi is built for long waits. Some attractions are in the public area, open to anyone, and others sit in the transit area, which you reach only after immigration with a boarding pass. Knowing which is which helps you plan a layover or decide how early to come in before a flight.
Jewel is the main draw. It sits in the public area between T2 and T3 and connects directly to the T1 Arrival Hall, so you can walk in without a ticket. At its centre is the Rain Vortex, a 40-metre indoor waterfall described as the tallest of its kind in the world. In the evening it hosts a light and music show. Around the waterfall sits the Forest Valley, an indoor garden, and Canopy Park is up on the top level, Level 5. Transit passengers who want to visit Jewel must clear immigration first, so check your connection time and entry requirements before you leave the transit area.
Changi's themed gardens are a calm break between flights. The Butterfly Garden is in the T3 transit area across Levels 2 and 3. T2 transit has the Sunflower Garden on Level 3 and the Enchanted Garden on Level 2. In T1 transit you will find the Cactus Garden on Level 3 and the Water Lily Garden on Level 2, while the Crystal Garden is also in T3 transit.
The Slide@T3 is in the T3 public area and drops from Level 1 down to B2. In the T1 departure hall on Level 2, which is public, Kinetic Rain is a moving sculpture you can watch from the public area. Both are easy to see while you wait for someone to arrive.
T4 has its own attractions in the transit area. The Heritage Zone is one of them, and the Chandelier playground gives children somewhere to play before boarding.
Every terminal has viewing malls in the public area where you can watch aircraft take off and land. In transit, T3 has a free movie theatre on Level 3, and T1 has a swimming pool with a jacuzzi on Level 3. TV lounges are found in all four terminals.
Eligible transit passengers can join the Free Singapore Tour, a way to see a little of Singapore during a long layover. Eligibility and booking rules are set by the airport, so read the conditions in the transit area or on the airport's own pages before you plan around it.
All four terminals at Changi handle international flights. T1, T2 and T3 stand next to each other and are linked by the Skytrain and walkways, while T4 is set apart and reached by shuttle bus. The lists below follow the airport's own passenger airline directory. Airlines do move terminals, so the terminal printed on your e-ticket is the one to trust.
T1 connects directly to Jewel through its Arrival Hall. Scoot flies from here, along with several Gulf, European and North Asian carriers.
T2 is one of the two terminals used by Singapore Airlines. It is also where Firefly is listed at Changi. Firefly additionally flies from Seletar Airport for its Subang flights, so check which Singapore airport your booking shows.
T3 is the other Singapore Airlines terminal and also serves a mix of Asian, Pacific and Middle Eastern carriers. Its public area is home to The Slide@T3, and its transit area holds the Butterfly Garden.
T4 serves many of the region's low-cost carriers, along with some full-service airlines. It has its own taxi stand, car rental counters and a direct shuttle to the other terminals.
The free Skytrain links T1, T2 and T3 in both the public and transit areas, from early morning until late at night. You can also walk: travellators connect the terminals inside the transit area, and link bridges join them in the public area at any hour.
T4 is reached by a free shuttle bus. In the public area the ride takes about 10 minutes, with pick-ups near T1 and Jewel and near the MRT at T2. In the transit area it takes about 10 to 18 minutes from boarding points in T1, T2 and T3. A transit transfer to T4 only works on a through-checked itinerary. Landside, you can also walk from T2 to T4 through the Changi Airport Connector.
Changi is well connected to the rest of Singapore. Fares are shown at the station, the taxi stand or in each operator's app, so check them there.
Changi Airport MRT station (CG2) is signposted 'Train to City' from the arrival and departure halls of T2 and T3. From the airport, change at Tanah Merah for the East West Line or at Expo for the Downtown Line. Journey time depends on where you are heading.
Public buses leave from the basement bus bays. Routes include 24, 27, 34, 36, 53, 110 and 858. Most services do not run overnight, so for a very late arrival another option may suit better.
Taxi stands are in the arrival areas of all four terminals and operate 24 hours. The ride to the city takes about 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
Ride-hailing apps such as Grab and Gojek pick up from the signposted arrival pick-up points at T1 to T4. Book once you have collected your bags.
For a pre-booked car, the Ground Transport Concierge has 24-hour counters at T1 Arrival Pick-up in the basement, on Level 1 of the T2 arrival hall, and on Level 1 of the T3 and T4 arrival halls next to the information counter.
Car rental counters are on Level 1 of the arrival halls in all four terminals.
Changi has eight car parks and four coach stands. Every terminal has short-term parking with a short free grace period for picking up or dropping off. For stays of more than 24 hours, pre-booked parking is available, and paid EV charging is offered too. The car parks are managed by Wilson Parking on behalf of the airport. Rates change, so check the airport's parking pages before you drive.
Changi is generous with free facilities, and many of them run round the clock. Here they are in the order travellers usually ask about them.
Every terminal follows the same pattern. The Arrival Hall is on Level 1 and the Departure Hall, where you check in, is on Level 2. After immigration, the departure transit area is also on Level 2. Lounges and some of the gardens are one floor up, on Level 3 in T1, T2 and T3, or on Level 2M in T4.
Pay-per-use lounges include the Plaza Premium Lounge in T1, the Ambassador Transit Lounge in T2 and T3, the SATS Premier Lounge in T1 to T3, the Marhaba Lounge in T1 and T3, Blossom - SATS & Plaza Premium Lounge in T4 and JetQuay in T2. The Changi Lounge is in Jewel, on the landside. Airline lounges include the Singapore Airlines SilverKris and KrisFlyer Gold lounges in T2 and T3, lounges for Qantas, British Airways, Emirates and Qatar Airways in T1, and the Cathay Pacific lounge in T4. Entry to airline lounges depends on your ticket class or membership.
Left baggage counters operate in every terminal, on both the public and transit sides, plus Level 1 of Jewel. They are open 24 hours daily. That makes it easy to leave a bag behind while you explore Jewel.
There are smoking areas in the departure transit halls of all terminals, and at the arrival and departure kerbsides outside.
Free snooze lounges are open 24/7 in the departure transit areas of all four terminals: on Level 3 in T1, at the North and South piers in T2, at the North and South ends of T3, and on Level 2M in T4. If you would rather have a proper bed, hotels near the airport are an option to book separately.
Paid showers are in transit at T1, on Level 3 near the C gates, and on Level 3 in T2 and T3. On the landside, T2 Level 1 has a pay-per-use shower and locker facility.
Free #WiFi@Changi covers the public and transit areas of all terminals and needs no registration. Charging points are at seating areas in the departure and arrival halls, inside gate holdrooms and in the free rest areas.
ATMs are available 24 hours in the public and transit areas of every terminal and on Level B1 of Jewel. Money changers are in the T1 transit area.
Prayer rooms are in the transit areas: T1 Level 3, T2 Level 3, T3 Level 2 (South) and T4 Level 2M.
Clinics operate in transit at all four terminals, and landside at T2 (B1), T3 (B2) and the T4 arrival hall. Pharmacies are in the transit areas of every terminal and in the T2 departure hall.
Baby care rooms are spread across all terminals and Jewel. Children's play areas are in T1, T2, T3 and T4, including the Chandelier playground in T4 transit. Wheelchairs and other accessibility aids are available on request.
The airport does not publish a single opening-hours statement, and it mentions no curfew. What it does list is a set of round-the-clock services: the snooze lounges, left baggage, ATMs, taxis and the walking links between T1, T2 and T3. The Skytrain and the T4 shuttle keep shorter hours, with a loop shuttle service overnight, so allow extra time if you are moving between terminals in the small hours.
The airport advises checking in at least 2 hours before departure. If you have checked in online, aim to be at the departure transit hall 1 hour before, or 45 minutes before if you have no hold baggage. Your airline's own cut-off times still apply and are shown on your booking.
Check-in happens on Level 2, and you pass immigration before entering the transit area, where the gardens, lounges and rest areas are. On arrival you clear immigration and collect bags before reaching the Level 1 Arrival Hall. Entry requirements for Singapore are set by the authorities, so check the official guidance for your passport well before you travel.
Confirm your terminal before you leave home, particularly for Singapore Airlines, which uses both T2 and T3. For live departure and arrival information, use the Traveloka flight status page.
Below the guide, this page helps you plan a trip from SIN. Fare cards show fares from Singapore to popular destinations, and the flight schedule tables list upcoming departures and arrivals at Changi by date, with the airline and scheduled times. They show a selection of flights, not every service, so treat them as a starting point.
Pick a route, compare airlines and times for your dates, and note the terminal. If the fare is not right yet, set a Price Alert and Traveloka will let you know when it changes. Your e-ticket arrives by email and in the app once you book.
