Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), commonly called KLIA, is in Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia. Its two passenger terminals are KLIA Terminal 1 and KLIA Terminal 2. Terminals at Kuala Lumpur International Airport

KLIA Terminal 1

Terminal 1 serves Malaysia Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, among other carriers. It includes a main terminal and a satellite building. The Aerotrain connects the main terminal/contact pier area with the satellite building within T1; it is a different service from the railway to Kuala Lumpur city. Follow the boarding directions for your flight after check-in, allowing time to reach the satellite if your gate is there.

KLIA Terminal 2

Terminal 2, also known as klia2, serves AirAsia, AirAsia X and Cebu Pacific. It has its own railway station and transport facilities. A domestic itinerary does not automatically mean T1, and an international itinerary does not automatically mean T2: airline and flight details determine the building.

Transfers between Kuala Lumpur International Airport terminals

A free public shuttle connects Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and the Long Term Car Park. This is the road transfer option between the two passenger terminals. The airport railway also links the T1 and T2 stations. The Aerotrain does not take passengers to Terminal 2; it stays within the T1 complex, so do not board it expecting an inter-terminal journey.

When connecting across terminals, ask the airline whether your bags are checked through or must be collected. Allow time for arrival formalities, the public transfer and check-in for the next flight.

Trains from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to the city

KLIA Ekspres connects the airport's T1 and T2 stations with KL Sentral. Its regular express service travels between the airport and KL Sentral, while late-evening trains also stop at intermediate stations. Read the service pattern for the departure you plan to use rather than assuming every train follows the same stopping pattern. From KL Sentral, arrange the onward journey to your accommodation.

KLIA Transit serves KL Sentral, Bandar Tasik Selatan, Putrajaya & Cyberjaya, Salak Tinggi and both airport terminals. It is useful when your destination is an intermediate station. The two rail products have separate ticket conditions, so buy for the service and sector you intend to take. When returning to KLIA, select the T1 or T2 station that matches your flight.

Facilities at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2

Terminal 2 has shower facilities in the Main Terminal Building on Levels 2 and 3, and in the Satellite Building on Level 2. Choose a facility within the area you can access and check its usage conditions.

Buggy assistance is available in Terminal 2's domestic and international departure and arrival areas. Ask for help if the walk is difficult for someone in your party. Muslim prayer rooms are provided in the Main Terminal Building and satellite areas.

City check-in for Kuala Lumpur International Airport flights

Malaysia Airlines passengers with a qualifying KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit ticket can use check-in and baggage drop at KL CAT in KL Sentral. Confirm your flight's eligibility and the airline's acceptance cut-off before travelling there. Once bags are accepted, they are transferred to the flight at Terminal 1; you still need time for the railway journey, airport security and boarding.
