I am very disappointed at the handling of a midnight fire alarm. While it is more than understandable that emergencies happen, how this one was handled is the basis of this review. During this stressful and potentially serious event, nothing and I mean nothing, was ever communicated. We exited through the rear stairwell with many others, the closest exit, but no hotel representative ever showed to organize and inform the group. Did we evacuate, were we still in our rooms, nobody from the hotel knew or seemed to care. Eventually, amongst the confusion outside, some of us decided to walk around to the lobby, where it became clear no emergency existed. Guests were milling around the lobby and a couple fire trucks and crew were around too, with a few doing their standard safety checks. There was no announcement, or other comment, ever made, to confirm the status of the situation. After about 20 mins, a Fire Marshall turned the elevators back on and said we could return to our rooms. I still have no idea what actually happened: a bad prank, a malfunction, a small but legitimate issue that was quickly addressed by the Fire Department? Thankfully this was a fairly mundane event, but I am not sure if this hotel was prepared to guarantee the safety of every guest, if it was a real emergency. I probably would give a favourable review if not for the alarm, but it’s in times of crisis where you see people’s true colours and this hotel did not appear very prepared.

My room was so tiny and right next to the elevator, so it was a bit noisy. Also the window was covered with a privacy film so there was no view at all. All in all the hotel was fine for just the one night though.
