The staff were all really helpful and worked hard to ensure everything was perfect for us. The hotel and it’s facilities were excellent. Breakfast had such a large choice it was more like breakfast and lunch together. The hotel is joined to a subway entrance which was really convenient. Also, the hotel was close to the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and various shopping malls. Beijing is excellent. The city is really clean and safe. Be prepared to walk a lot and don’t forget your passport!

Classic five-star hotel with great staff service and excellent room furnishings. However, having stayed at many other hotels in China, there were a few disappointing points regarding some essential complimentary services that many modern China hotels now commonly offer. Firstly, there were no washing machines, dryers, or complimentary laundry services available. Secondly, the hotel does not use delivery robots, meaning all takeaway orders must be collected personally from outside the hotel entrance. Thirdly, during our 4 days and 3 nights stay, the staff informed us that the complimentary soft drinks in the minibar (such as Coke) were only free for the first round for the entire stay, rather than replenished daily. Fourthly, we chose an upgraded room facing the Forbidden City (故宫), which we were really looking forward to. Unfortunately, the actual view was very distant and quite small, while the room itself also felt relatively compact considering the price paid. Overall, it is still a good, classic five-star hotel with professional staff and quality furnishings. However, for the price paid, the overall complimentary service felt rather stingy compared with many other luxury hotels in China today. The management style feels quite traditional and not fully aligned with the newer service standards many modern China hotels now provide, so we probably would not choose to stay again.

We visited the hotel during a busy period and getting in required going through security. It was a fairly quick process however. We also had an issue with housekeeping not doing a great job making up our room. The bed would be lumpy and on one occasion it was made over a bathrobe instead of moving the bathrobe to make the bed. I told Tom the front desk staff and they were great. They really tried to rectify the situation and make sure we were happy/comfortable even though it really wasn’t their fault.

Well located good quality hotel, not far from Tiananmen and the Forbidden City; a five minute walk to the Wanfujing shopping strip (the building with the Apple Store has many restaurants on levels 5 & 6). Pool and gym area is truly exceptional by any hotel standard anywhere. Bar is ok but very adequate. Service was efficient and friendly. Concierge lady was a delight, with excellent English.
