Stayed here for Valentine’s Day. I have never stayed in such a run down hotel. To say it needed a lick of paint is an understatement. The state of the bathroom was not acceptable. Very very noisy with people leaving the clubs at 3am!! Not a great night sleep due to this.

I have stayed here a few times due to the location, staff and room. After checking in we started the celebrations of our wedding anniversary which was a special one by exploring the lovely sights and places of Brighton. When we came back to room at just after midnight we got into bed to find the bed was broken and duvet and bed sheets did not fit our bed - it was the worst night sleep and barely slept. As it was early hours we didn’t want to move rooms so late as we had unpacked. When morning came we thought we would use the tea and coffee facilities in the room before we went down to complain about the bed and check out. Sadly the coffee and sugar sachets were stuck together no doubt from getting damp or were just old. We explained everything to the gentleman behind the counter and shared photos of the bed being broken and sheets not fitting our bed. I have never experienced rudeness like it, he shrugged his shoulders and asked what I want him to do about it! Even complaining through hotel.com they said the hotel apologised for the poor experience and didn’t have a voucher or a partial refund to offer us. Due to this experience we will not be returning despite the experiences we had previously that were good, the hotel clearly needs some TLC and will not be returning.

Do not stay here while they are renovating the hotel. The room we stayed in was extremely tired, stained carpet, stained chair, stained side of bed. Toilet seat didn’t fit and moved. Everything about the room itself was not acceptable. They shouldn’t open if they can’t provide good clean rooms. Have stayed here many times over many years. So disappointed

The lobby seemed dark on entering. I cannot fault the staff whom were very professional and helpful. The actual internal building is very quirky and extremely dated as the rooms. Could hear the people in the next room so sound proofing not so good. Evening meal was cancelled due to kitchen problems which was notified a few weeks ago. However breakfast was served. This was in the old theatre room by looks of it very dated almost like a museum of a medieval castle type place and under hot plate lights however by time I sat down was on cold side and not a great pick me up as it’s my main meal time for me! Served it’s purpose for overnight stay but will not be returning as I could not go more than overnight stay.

The room was clean but very cold and heating never came on so one of the staff gave us an electric heater and we had to run the taps for ages to get hot water. Also noticed a lot of mould in the corridors at the windows. Breakfast was okay. The hotel definitely needs a refurbishment!

Room comfortable, good beds and linen but for the price, very small with no view and in need of redecoration. Bathroom in need of attention, dripping shower head. Whole property tired and in need of renovation for the price point. Breakfast terrible, very limited non meat options, rubber eggs. Staff very welcoming though! Location perfect.

Idealy situated on the seafront and a 2 min walk from the Laines and 5 min from the city centre. I would have scored higher overall but there were a couple slight issues that brought the score down. A large area of the ground floor was cordened off due to refurbishmen. This meant breafast had to be taken in one of the conference/ ball rooms which was tired and in need of refurbishment itself. Where the hotel is an old building there is a labyrinth of corridors and stairs to navigate to find your room. Despite these small negatives the staff were absolutely brilliant, they couldnt have been more frindky and professional. I would definitely recommend staying. Especially in the warmer months when they open up the alfesco seating for the bar area; its a brilliant spot to people watch.
