Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa

Kept awake most of night by blokes who where drinking either outside or in room above. Netflix would not work although they did offer to come to room and sort it out but couldn’t be bothered by then. Bathroom was a bit tired and dated and shower was awkward to work

We had a lovely time, the bed was really comfortable and a fabulous shower. The team were friendly, food in the brasserie was delicious.

Absolutely beautiful hotel, friendly staff, clean and comfy. The only criticism is that £50 to use the pool and spa etc is absolutely extortionate…. Most hotels let hotel guests use these facilities for free, some higher end ones may charge around £10 or so which is fine….. but £50 is an absolute rip off. You can get 3 months gym membership for that. It is fleecing customers and made me not want to spend any more money in there like at the bar or restaurant etc.

Stayed for one night. Charged extra fir checking in an hour early but needed to do this as attending a wedding. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Hotel was beautiful but a bit tired in corridors in places. Room was lovely .very clean . Plenty of amenities. Tea coffee. Biscuits. Shampoo etc. Ironing board.Iron.Fan. Two double beds but one was quite lumpy so we slept in the other. Got a good nights sleep. Nice and quiet. Would highly recommend

Whilst in my room a couple had been given my room aswell. The lady was in shock as i had just came out of the shower. Problems throughout with my key not working....very disapointed. The younger lady on the desk

Second time staying here and I cannot fault the staff, food or service. Would always recommend and would always stay here when in the area.

Away with work so spent 5 nights. I included use of the spa which was so worth it. The breakfast was delicious with such a choice. Room was lovely and clean plenty of space.

Nice hotel and attentive staff. Only negative was being asked to pay £40 per day to use the spa facilities. Seems a bit steep if all you want is a swim or a morning workout.

I was here on a business trip and would definitely stay again.

Great stay, the rooms were nice and clean. The only thing I would say is it may want a bit of updating around the spa but I think this is currently happening. Can’t fault staff, or food either. Would recommend, and stay again.

This is a lovely hotel, I stayed 2 years ago and feel sadly it’s lost its spark a bit. The good bits first, parking is great, easy to access hotel and plenty of spaces, the spa was great, and a big bonus was the yoga class I joined when I saw people with yoga mats. The room was big and comfortable with a nice fridge and a big bath. The not so good bits, the corridors were cold and a big part was not heated at all, it’s a long walk from rooms to reception and breakfast room. I had to make 3 trips to reception to get room keys recoded as they stopped working which was annoying. Breakfast was disappointing, we were sat on a tiny table, not big enough to eat comfortably and very close to the tables next to us so we couldn’t really speak without people listening. The choice was poor, no bananas, tomatoes not properly cooked, too tough in the middle, vegetarian sausage was full of veg not fake meat, don’t really want carrots & peas with breakfast. Only one milk available I’m sure I could have asked for soy or skimmed but didn’t want to. I know these may feel small & picky things but they are important. Lovely bath but no bubble bath so had to use shower gel provided. I’d still go back but I feel like the cost of living is having an effect on this hotel.

Had a lovely stay friendly staff, clean and the facilities were fabulous. we had the spa package and was so worth it. we also added on a spa treatment which was amazing. The breakfast was lovely and lots of choice. I have a nut allergy and they made me very own cooked breakfast just to be on the safe side which was lovely. Will definitely be looking to book again.

staff were professional friendly , room was cold even tho we put heating up high , some noisy guests kept us up but not hotel fault

I am writing this review because, despite being asked to email the hotel about my concerns, I have not received any response. This lack of follow-up has left me disappointed and compelled me to share my experience publicly. I stayed at this hotel from December 7th to December 8th to celebrate my wife’s birthday. While we dined at The Lawns Grill, which was a pleasant experience, it is worth noting that the restaurant was an additional cost and unrelated to the core issue of my stay. The main problem was the extremely thin walls, which made it impossible to block out noise from a group of loud guests in the adjacent room. Their conversation was so loud it felt like they were in our room. Despite raising multiple complaints with the reception—by phone and in person—the disturbance persisted until 2:30 AM when the group finally left. A hotel’s primary purpose is to provide a peaceful night’s sleep, but the thin walls and inability to address the issue meant we barely got any rest, significantly impacting the next day of our trip.
