We walked in from our pilgrim route tired and wet. We were put in a cramped w/c accessible room on the ground floor.There was a locked connecting door to the next room. The occupants returned, talking loudly, and apparently smoking as we could smell the cigarette smoke in our room. We asked to be moved and ended up in a much nicer, larger room on the first floor, with a bathtub! Sorely needed after our long, wet day of walking. The next morning we arrived at breakfast to find one of the most complete breakfast offerings we'd seen thus far, and a lovely young woman presiding! Perfect for hungry pilgrims who would be walking again that day. So, things started out not wonderful but ended up great!

The hotel is on the edge of Orthez on the main road to Pau. It's everything you expect from a Kyriad. Staff friendly and helpful, room and beds were fine. Dinner was good and reasonably priced and breakfast was excellent. A good night stop on the journey.

Breakfast was good but let down by the restaurant not being open in the evenings over the weekend - Friday to Sunday. This was not mentioned in the booking details.

sadly it was much too hot in our room at the end of the corridor as it had a low ceiling and the outside had the sun all day so the room appeared to get hotter as the night went on. we had to sleep with the window and door open. A fan would have helped a bit.
