Invited upon checkin to see the Museum regarding French fishing history housed in the building..was excellent! Room facing the fjord had small deck with chairs, was lovely to have a chance to sit right by water. Bed, bathroom, all excellent. Parking very near door. Did not have breakfast, price seemed high. Front desk not manned it a.m., supposed to find staff in dining area in another building to give key, no one there, finally knocked on back door to be able to hand key over. No problem really tho. A very nice place to spend our evening.

The ambiance and look of the hotel The breakfast was excellent however, I would suggest to move the toaster on another table away of the buffet because, it was very crowded.

3 stars or less. Very basic set up. Understandable being in countryside of Iceland however overall experience doesn’t meet the value. Part of this hotel is a small museum focus on its history story which was lovely.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was wonderful! friendly, helpful, and quick to make things right. The hotel itself was spotless, and the rooms had excellent blackout curtains, which is so important in Iceland during summer. The only hiccup was with our room booking. We had reserved one room with three beds, but when we arrived they said it was only booked for one bed. I showed my confirmation, and it seemed to be a mix-up on their end with a double booking. They upgraded us to two separate bedrooms with queen beds, which was very comfortable. However, the following night they moved us again into a room with three beds once it became available. Switching rooms two nights in a row was a little inconvenient, but they were apologetic and made up for it with a complimentary meal and discounts on food and drinks. Overall, it was a lovely stay with just that one bit of hassle at the start.

It's an interesting hotel, utilising former French hospital buildings and containing an interesting musuem about the French sailors, mainly from Brittany who spent half the year in tough conditions fishing along the Icelandic coast. The receptionist was friendly, informative and welcoming. Our room was over the road (free parking outside) with a view over the fjord. The room was spacious and modern with good black out curtains and a fab view. We booked into the French restaurant withon the hotel and both enjoyed our meals. Breakfast was also enjoyable with a good range ot items which were stocked up regularly. Neither the hotel or the restaurant are cheap - nothing in Iceland is cheap! However it was a pleasant quiet night. NB Nothing to do with the hotel but the fish industry locally is still very much alive and so we had a strong whiff of fish when outside. Doesn’t take away from the great views and setting.

This was my favorite hotel of my ring road trip simply due to the balcony overlooking the fjord. I spent hours just sitting, sipping coffee, and watching the ducks/ducklings. Such a relaxing location and the room was a good size. I really miss this hotel the most out of my whole trip. Also, Tatyana at check in has such a bubbly personality that it was great to see someone who really enjoys what they are doing and is an extremely welcoming person. 10/10 will be back!
