My family and I had the best Easter break at Fitzpatrick's Castle Hotel. Firstly, the family rooms were an excellent size with two large double beds and plenty of space around them for a family of four (two adults, two children). The rooms were beautifully decorated with a coach and a modern bathroom with a large shower.  My family and I ate at the Mapas restaurant twice during our long weekend stay and we could not fault the food - it was absolutely perfect! We had breakfast here both mornings and there was a great selection with friendly staff to assist. The fact that the restaurant and the bar area are adjoined works really well from an entertainment perspective. The live music on the first night of our stay was great and the singers really interacted with the kids which made it a really special.  On Easter Sunday they had an Easter egg hunt organised for the children which was absolutely fantastic, they also had a special visit from the Easter bunny who delivered Easter eggs to all of the children involved.  This is a great hotel for families - the pool was amazing for the kids as well as Killiney park which is right next door. The best thing about our stay was Sue. We had two small children and she was so attentive with them, so attentive that they didn't want to leave her!! We are very grateful for her hospitality and she definitely made the Easter break a really special one for our 4-year-old twins!! This was our first time staying at Fitzpatrick's Castle Hotel and it'

Overpriced to begin with for a relatively dilapidated building (eg., the cold water fixture in tub literally fell off when I was drawing a bath). And then there were also errant charges (eg., at check-in we were told that breakfast would be included for about $20/person/day; we agreed to the extra charge and paid ahead of time even though we didn’t end up eating breakfast either of our days in Dublin; upon checkout we were informed that we had an outstanding balance of 98 euros; when I asked what this additional charge was for I was told “for breakfast”).

Check in was flawless, property was clean. The hotel is a social club more less with locals in and out all day and evening. There is a racquetball club or something that plays 18hrs of the day it seems and that makes parking difficult for hotel guests. The main reason we stayed here rsther then dublin for the pool and hot tub amenities. But nonwhere does it mention in the description the fitness center or pools are community based and there are 40 kids plus that come through the piol area and have designated times for lessons and free swim. And while the kids are at lessons the parents are in the hot tub or saunas. Very misleading with everything. We also both suffered an illness after eating in the Tapas downstairs, about 12hr illness like food poisoning due to chicken wings we both believe.

Unfortunately there was a violent incident on 3 doors down one night from 3am to 4:30 thar included lots of loud screaming. I knkw that this incident, that is being investigated, was not the staffs fault but i cannot say thar i was happy with how they were handling it in the moment- not immediately calling autheoires or ambulence even though i was told " a guest has been attacked" and not desiring the help of my roommate, a doctor. It left us very confused and disturbed, not knowing if there was somebody attacking people in the hotel. I would think that refunding everyone who heard this incident for the night, or at least 50 percent, would have been a class move. We were offered a 15% refund on the one night- will see if that even gets applied. The town and trails near the hotel are lovely, a very nice location, but i cant say i would stay again. The breakfast was also grossly overpriced.
