The location of the hotel was quite convenient for us. We were visiting with friends who hadn’t been to Japan before so we figured Ueno was a good base. Our rooms were in the annex, which from the exterior looks pretty modern, however our room was a bit worn, though clean overall. The tile floor was a bit dated and the walls were scuffed. Although there was a couch/pull out sofa in our room, it served more for our luggages since there wasn’t a luggage stand. Also the mini fridge and small desk had various items staged on them so there wasn’t much surface area available to work with. I enjoyed the floor to ceiling windows in our rooms. The konbini downstairs was perfect. The entrance into our annex required a room key, which helped to feel secure. Even tho there was only one elevator, we didn’t have to wait long for the lift. Check in is across the street in the main bldg. The staff were always very helpful. There’s a lot of activities for families in the lobby in that building. Also a lot of seating. There’s a supermarket by the main building, the train stations are nearby. Ueno park is your backyard and numerous restos and a Don Q are outside the hotel. It should be noted that the hotel is on the outskirts of the red light district, tho we never felt unsafe. I will say this was the most I’ve ever spent on a hotel stay in Japan, but it was golden week. I don’t think it was worth the heightened prices we paid, however for the normal rates I think it is sufficient.

The staff here was wonderful. The rooms are tiny but scaled to local standards. The location is great and near stores, restaurants and metro making it easy to find something you need. The neighborhood is a little sketchy at night for young kids as there are a lot of adult entertainment and sex workers on the block.

The room we stayed in had a private open air bath. Despite there being many beds (2 queen beds and 4 twin bunk beds) there is no room for your luggage. There is also no where to hang towels and clothes. Booked this room specifically for the open air bath which was very nice! After walking all day, being able to soak in the comfort of your own room was a nice way to end the night. During our stay, there were two public bathrooms in the building we stayed in but both were out of order. There is also no staff in the building that we stayed in, so check in is across the street in main building. Location of the hotel was convenient with a family mart right downstairs and lots of restaurants to pick from! Only thing is this location is very noisy. Could hear people yelling and sirens constantly.

Tiny space for what I paid. We forgot our tax free bag in the room and maid must of saw it then rushing us out. Later we called they said they didn’t have it. My daughter was devastated. Japan was so honest so we were shocked this happened to us but it was ran by none Japanese staffs. Check in was one building then we have to walk across the street to different building where we stay. Very inconvenient with kids and luggages

Room was very large, accompanied our family of 5 very well. Bedding was very comfortable, plenty of extra sheets and pillows. The location was very noisy. I recommended staying in a less busy part of the city if you have a young family. TV had limited channels, mini fridge was not very cold. Limited amenities, but otherwise a decent stay. A bit on the pricey side but it could be due to location. Staff was very friendly, no problems there.
