Onsen experience was the best! Kaiseki dinner and breakfast buffet was wonderful. Close to Jigokudani.

I had not been a fan of onsens before this property. It was large enough that I didn’t feel claustrophobic or uncomfortable. The different pools and size allowed me to enjoy it for a couple of hours and not be bored. Moreover, it being at foot of Hell Valley made it a memorable site.

I am not Japanese so I am reviewing this hotel from a foreigner's cultural perspective. We had hoped for a serene onsen hotel. This was certainly not that. The architecture was 1970's soviet gulag style on the outside and Butlins on the inside. It was brightly lit and noisey The onsen was more like a municiple swimming pool. It did have views out over the steaming fumeroles but the glass was so steamy you couldn't see it. The breakfast was pretty inedible for a reasonably adventerous Irish man. The fish and pickles were good but the eggs were under cooked and the sausages were raw. Also, no bread, just pastries. The coffee was good. The dining room was like a 1980's factory canteen. And it was very expensive! I have stayed in much better onsen for much less elsewhere in Japan

Nice Japanese-style rooms, great service, but the onsen area was way too hot and the pool area could have been better kept and allow access to an external pool.

The grand bath is truly grand. Plan to spend a good amount of time at the baths. If this is the first leg of Hokkaido, a nice relaxing bath could easily take 45 mins (a short one)

This place is fantastic! The room was big and super nice, with a view of the snowy forest. It was exceptionally clean. The highlight of the experience was the onsen. The grand bath is huge, and the views from it are incredible. Overlooking beautiful trees and hell valley from the onsens. There were 7 indoor baths for both male and female (different minerals and temperatures). And then 4 outdoor baths for females and 5 or 6 outdoor baths for males. There are also two types of sauna and cold water bath. You can sit in a hot outdoor bath, looking out at the snow and drink sake from a floating tray. The scale of the grand bath is just mind blowing. We spent hours there and really felt the benefits. Muscles got relaxed, skin felt soft and healed, circulation improved. Overall amazing! We stayed two nights and wished we could stay there longer.

So good, we cancelled a smaller trip up north and extended our stay a couple of days in a different room. Staff is helpful, plenty of dining options, and of course the onsen is awesome. Just be wary of high prices in and around the resort- this is definitely not a budget stay.

Directly situated above Hell Valley so a walk out the door took you straight into a science journal. Boardwalk and access to the further walks available in the area was a real treat. Grand Baths are amazing! So many different types of baths and not overly busy at all. Limited dining in the area but we found a fabulous shabu shabu joint right outside which ended up being the best meal of our trip. A taste sensation! Parking facilities were plentiful and excellent. Don't miss visit the Ainu Upopoy Museum in Shaori nearby. It is fabulous.

This hotel is huge, almost like Vegas. It was pricey. The onsen was amazing! The buffet dinner and breakfast were delicious! It was a good location next to Hell Valley and walking distance to the bear park.

Went in to it not knowing what to expect, and were blown away! We felt like royalty living in luxury. We didnt add the buffet dinner, luckily we could add it last minute. Our only regret was not staying longer. We stayed 1 night, shouldve stayed 2-3.
