What Guests Say About Their Stay

It's a ryokan with a long history. A beautiful garden and several onsen to choose from. Breakfast is good. The room is a bit outdated, but it is expected as most ryokan are. Service is very good. Staff is very accommodating and speaks perfect English. They have a shuttle to pick up and send you to Gero Station.

Very good value for money, five star hotel, spacious rooms, clean, good breakfast, great onsen, very good service staff There is a shuttle from the station. The hotel is not far from the station. I really like it if I have a chance to come back.

There's staff to welcome and orientate us upon arrival. And since it's a large hotel with 3 buildings, the staff briefed us and walked us to the building where our room was. Nice breakfast and we have 3 onsens to choose from! It's also conveniently located within walking distance or a short drive to the main sights at Gero.

The room was clean but a little old and a couple spots creaked. Staff was friendly and helpful. The gym/pool was not free even though i had a suite and the buffet had a good variety but it was hell to walk around. The open air bath was really far away and was given 1 water bottle because i was solo? Again, on a suite? There may seem to be a lot of issues but it was still better than most 4 star hotels.

It would have been better if breakfast had been served as individual sets rather than a buffet. The buffet area felt quite overwhelming when everyone was trying to get their food, and some guests even cut the line. Serving breakfast at the tables would help create a more comfortable and orderly dining experience.

The hotel is big and could cater to big crowds without having the guests feeling overcrowding. The 3 onsens are spread over 3 different blocks of building but very walkable within indoor (hence no concern about rain or cold weather). Buffet breakfast was excellent with good spread of western and Japanese cuisine. Parking onsite is complimentary and the hotel is walkable to small town with eateries, shops and cafes. The option to have western and Japanese beddings in the room is good especially when travelling with elderly. The young ones can experience sleeping on tatami while the western bedding provides comfort for the elderly.

At check in, the staffs handles the luggage for Japanese visitors ONLY, not anyone else. All 3 onsite restaurants serve reservations only, no walk-ins, and the staffs doesn’t tell you at all until you found out yourselves. No in-room slippers besides the one wears within the hotel. No hair brush at all, there’s only one in the public onsen area which was terribly dirty that used by everyone. The outdoor onsen was okay, but the panoramic onsen has water keep dripping down to your head from the ceiling because of the steams. The room is the smallest comparing to other onsen hotels, the TV is very small, the bathroom is extremely small and dirty, the shower curtain has dead bug, stains, mildew and mold on it. The buffet breakfast is very poor and simply me, not much varieties, plus 85% of stuffs are vegetarian, the restaurant closes at 10am, but they STOP refilling any of the food trays anymore from 9am at one of the mornings during my stay. This is totally should not be rated as a 4 star hotel, you feel like been staying at a 2.5 star ryokan!!! No services and not clean. Will never ever staying here again and totally not recommended.
