Casa Chitic Balcescu

The photo posted online of this property is very misleading - it looked like a charming character building. In reality, we were led to a ground floor room that opened directly to a walled in alley way that was accessed by a locked gate. We were not given the code to access the gate in advance, and we were not shown how to lock the door to the room which was a mirrored glass patio door and tricky - we had to chase down someone to help us. Room was ok - small and clean. No water or any amenities other than a bottle of shampoo in the shower. The location was great but would not stay here again.

Great rooms near the primary dining and shopping area of the old city. Awesome Romanian breakfast with extra options.

Very clean hotel with friendly staff 2 minutes away from the Old Town center.

Perfect location, service and very clean.Breakfast choices better than I had in Bucharest. No issues encountered.

A lovely, quirky little hotel, extremely clean, lovely continental breakfast with good coffee. Location is excellent and close to the centre of Brasov, parking is a nightmare to get a spot, so we made a reservation with the hotel for one of their spaces, a must do if you have a car! Staff were very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Chitic and we would stay here again. Excellent place.

Great location Spacious room Great location for town which is easily walkable from the hotel. Parking outside was easy as we had booked a parking space. Essential if arriving by car. Its very busy around the town to park. Super efficient check in with extremely helpful man when we arrived. Nothing too much trouble. Beds a bit harder than we are used to, but we got used to them. Breakfast was plentiful, but not to our taste. It depends on what you like to eat, so is subjective. The coffee wasnt great. Wish they had proper butter rather than a butter mix/margarine. Staff in the breakfast room were lovely though. Id definitely recommend the hotel as a great place to stay.

Gorgeous atmosphere and stunning room- well worth carrying suitcases up flights of stairs in the beautiful building, it's all so full of character! The hotel is well located for food and as a jumping off point for travel tours to the castles. The breakfast offering was great and all staff were wonderful and accommodating. Would highly recommend this hotel!!

Loved this place, but we stayed in a room that had a worn mattress that the springs were coming through so my back ached for the next few days. They should probably check the mattresses!

This hotel is historic and has cool details, and is located very close to the old town square. The bathroom was clean, the breakfast buffet was ample, the hotel is pet-friendly, which is a bonus for me, and the staff was friendly and helpful. If you forget to reserve parking at the hotel in advance, there's a Regina Maria parking garage 10 mins walk away. My only negative was that the bed wasn't the most plush...it was just a thin mattress. But I was exhausted and slept fine regardless.

Good value for money. Location is excellent in the middle of old town. Breakfast is good for 3 star hotel.

Excellent location, great service and very good breakfast. Two points people should know is that there is no elevator. If steps are a problem, request a lower floor. Also if you are driving, take advantage of there on site parking, which we did. Other wise parking is a challenge.

Had a 2 night stay and would 100% recommend property was centrally located to everything and was very clean. Reception could not have been more helpful and would definitely stay again.

Had an email to say thecreception was closing at 8, so got a taxi from station just in time. Spacious ground floor room, and reasonable breakfast. Lots of steps, but I expect thats what you get when refurbishing an old building. Staff very helpful.

All went well , room clean bed comfortable and nice toilet, property centrally located, so the only downside its the breakfast, could be improved…

Casa Chitic is the perfect location for staying in Braşov. The homey feel, great service and tranquil surroundings made it an excellent choice for a vacation in the old city. Want to mention Catalin at the front desk for his help.
