We chose to stay hear because it was our dream on this backpacking trip to stay in a castle. The castle is beautiful, warm, with the wood fireplace burning. I will say that for a very old property they keep it extremely unkept. It is of older charm, so keep that in mind (older carpets, less electrical plugs). The food , staff, and the stay was amazing, I only wish we weren’t backpacking so we could’ve stayed longer. One thing to note are that the parking situation threw us off alittle because there is a sign at the entrance of the estate saying no vehicles pass this point but you can drive all the way up and part in any spot around the castle. So don’t worry about parking.

The room was nice, view's are spectacular. However the hotel itself is tired needs updating even just a lick of pain, new flooring etc would work. Beautiful walks and grounds. Staff were lovely and friendly. Food was ok nothing special but not expensive. The pictures in the website wasn't a true representation of the hotel as I said needs a good update and clean. The bath in our room needs replacing asap I'd say. However everything else was good

Room was clean but maintenance required. Breakfast was optional extra but was expensive and the cooked items only so so (£60 for 2 adults and 2 kids). Your’re in the middle of nowhere so there’s really no other options.

All staff we were in contact with from reception, bar and meals were fantastic. Our dinner and breakfast were very good and of good quantity and value. Even though we were in a Castle, our room was dated compared to some others and could do with a freshen up. Windows could do with a wipe over to remove mould from condensation. Hydronic radiators could do with a service as we were woken during the night by them. Overall we were happy with our stay and thought it was reasonable value.

Great old castle and grounds. Converted to include quite a few guest rooms, they have a great history, breakfast and dinner options were all very good. The bar is unexpectedly well stocked and very comfortable. Would definitely come back. The staff is incredibly accommodating.
