We enjoyed the ocean view from our room.

Average accommodations and service. Room cleaning service was frustrating… there were stains on the glass of our coffee table that were there from the first night I spilled a bit of my drink through our three nights stay. Dirty glasses that were never removed during daily room cleanup. And our bathroom received new towel a but no wipe down nor sweep.

Great view, nice room, friendly staff, great central location around local businesses. Breakfast selection in the hotel was good. Prices was a bit expensive but had an overall fantastic time.

I have used Hotel Ballast exclusively when traveling to Wilmington, NC. I have always had the use of a walk in shower. However, this trip was different. I was placed in room 637 which had a bathtub with the use of a shower. I was not given the option of a room with a walk in shower. Based on ones age and to prevent accidents, rooms should be age appropriate based on guest needs. The room also had an extra door. I could see other guest or employees walking by that door.

I don't like paying an arm and leg to park that would definitely keep me from revisiting the property.

Hotel is very run down - issues with a great deal of the place. 1. Bathroom- floor dirty, stained cracks, the toilet paper holder was falling off wall, towel hook was falling off wall. Not enough towels for three people in a room that stated 4 could stay in. Peeling paint on ceiling. 2. The sheer shade didn’t work at all 3. There was large amounts of dust on the fire detector and vents. 4. Lights in hall falling off of the wall. 5. Only one elevator worked the entire time we where there 6. Parking - nightmare on the 4th - paid for parking to find they didn’t have space for our car when we returned- several individuals had issues with this. 7. Pool much smaller and dirty. 8. rug in room was dirty, and stained - didn’t want to walk without shoes the entire stay. For the price - I expect better quality than this would not stay here.

The staff was very friendly. We were disappointed in the overall appearance of the hotel. It is starting to show heavy wear for a 5 star rating. Our room had hair on the shower drain and toilet paper holder broken from wall. Front desk staff very apologetic and had housing keeping and maintenance address the problem. Couldn't relocate to another room because they were booked full, so our 3 day parking was compensated. A nice gesture. Pool area was in rough shape. Grass growing up through bricks, mold on wood tables, umbrella broke, trash, dirt and liter under all outside furniture.

I liked how easy it was to park, and get to my room. Staff was very kind, and generous. I would stay here again.

Went to go to bed after a long day and fireworks and laid on the bed and kept smelling urine. Wife pulled back the sheet and the entire mattress was soaked with urine and I guess house keeping just put the sheet over it and moved on. It was disgusting. They gave us another room at 1130 or so, got settled down and 15 min into laying down, fire alarm goes off which turned out to ba false alarm thank goodness. We stayed the night but I was done and left the next morning even though we had another night, couldn’t bring myself to stay and make my family stay in that place again. So at over $300 a night, you would think the place would be clean but I guess not. Now I guess I have to fight for a refund because they could do anything since I booked on Expedia.

The rooms are not cleaned properly. Upon check-in, our host was not very helpful on answering questions, and seemed very distracted and in a bad mood.

Great location on the Historic downtown waterfront. Select a waterfront room (odd # rooms) for a great view. Great a/c, water pressure, and swimming area.

Too many homeless individuals around the property. My daughter and I were accosted twice by homeless individuals near the hotel. One yelling obscenities at us and during a separate incident our lives were threatened. We were so uncomfortable we left a day early.

This hotel was terrible. When we checked in we were given the wrong room and a bad parking key. Then when we finally got the right room and we found a part of a condom rapper and what looked like other trash and a room thay wasnt very clean. The only thing they comped was one of my parking for my cars. They did reclean the room, but too little too late i already felt gross. The shower did not drain . Their was a really bad oder every where. The elevator wasn't working near our room. They hardly have any carts for your luggage. Not to mention when my friend did use one. The valet or hotel staff didnt seem to care that the one she had didn't work. They just laughed as she tryed to use it. There is mold near the pool doors that they dont clean so im sure the pool is just as bad. Over all it was not worth a penny we paid. I would not reccomend anyone stay here ever.

This hotel was in a great location, however, my 11 year old found some inappropriate items in our room and I did not feel like the room was thoroughly cleaned before we got there. The hotel did not comp the room because I booked through Expedia and they said they had no way to refund me. They offered me a voucher for a future one night stay at a hotel in a city that I have no reason of returning to.

From the outside and online pictures, the hotel was beautiful. Unfortunately, after check in things went downhill quickly. The towel bar fell off the wall 5 minutes after we arrived and put our bags down. There were no tissues, no shower gel, and only 2 towels provided. I couldn’t get anyone to answer when calling the front desk and the AC went out and was only blowing air, not cool air, it was 95 outside. The ice machine was as out of service and the elevator on our side of the hotel was down. For The price point of $367, I was EXTREMELY disappointed. Will not stay there again.

Very nice hotel. Check in was super quick
